Remapped diesels produce more particulates(smoke) because the engine is over fuelled.
Your car was remapped for max power so will be producing far more particulates and crap than normal. The down side to this is the EGR system is subjected to far more crap than normal, quickly causing problems. Blanking off the EGR at position B prevents any crap from entering the EGR system at all but position A will do just as well.
