General sticking / shuddering window wipers

guess a few of us have this issue? the wipers on all speeds are shuddering / sticking as they sweep over the window, any ideas what it is? more importantly what's the solution, as it's starting to get annoying!

If this is the same issue my year 2000 Punto has with the motor then Fiat need a good slapping cos 8 years is more then enough time to have sorted out the issue. Wipers and Brakes about the most important safety features of a car.

Well I've lived with these annoying wipers for over 7 years I'm sure - I'll do you one better and post a video

Funny thing is I never noticed the noise from the relays - probably because it was raining whenever I used the wipers
