Chris, just in a dealership at the moment and there's a fiat service pamphlet which mentions an activated carbon pollen filter, how much extra are they?

Car in for its 2nd service today and been advised front pads and discs 80 % worn (17k on clock)
Obviously going to avoid the £312.86 quoted from the stealer!

How easy are the pads and discs to fit myself? Can anyone help with a few pointers?

Have you done discs and pads before? If so then you could probably do it, if not then best left to the professionals. As I mention in my first post you can get the discs and pads much cheaper through Nextdaybrakes which only sell Brembo products which are very good quality and for a 1.2 I think the cost was about £51 and a independent garage will probably charge between £50-100 for fitting. It's not something that only the dealer can do :)

Bump for this thread, some people on here seem to be paying a lot more than they need to for their services at the moment!!!!

A quick warning, learned from Experience be careful when buying other surpliers rear shockers they may be too long by an inch which causes the rear springs to bounce on the spring pans. But at least unlike the fiat ones they are available to buy and not on back order with no eta (maybe the 18000 miles I got out of a set is fairly normal after all)(n)

Wonder if they were Panda shockers?

no different part number to panda ones, surpliers checked that, they thought my car may have had a sports suspension fitted, (its a 1.2 pop) but took originals into dealer and they took code off them and confirmed they where standard, but as they had no new ones in to compare, couldn't say I believed anyone, ford dealer had one shocker in that looked like the original, but as it was taped up and they wouldn't let me take it off, I couldn't say if that was same length, though they want £96 compared to fiat dealers £68 or internet suppliers £21

After tomorrow it won't be a problem for me. As all the suspension issues I've had and looking at the parts off the car and compared them to a neighbours panda, I think the 500 will need new front suspension mounts at least every 3 years as they are a water trap and bearing soon rust. at about £100 each including VAT I'm trading in for a Jap hairdresses car.

I was looking at at least a month maybe more with the wrong or completely cream crakered dampers, both causing a lot of clattering and possibly other damage to car, this on top of 2 new wishbones and 2 top suspension mounts, over £1000 sent including service at garages this year after only 3 years 18000. I had planned to keep car a long time, I'm a big italian car fan and have only owned them in 20 years of car ownership, and persuading me Mum into italian cars before that, but this car and the dealers/spares have finally broken my resolve, I'm afraid.:(

Sounds to me like you drive on some really crap roads. Suspension parts generally last a lot longer in normal conditions.
I think there will be a certain element of that, but a fair few people with Panda's have had dampers fail MOT's and wishbones too.

I do, but the wishbones last 67000 on my alfa 155 and the damper were still original at 95000, my dads car mundaneo is still original at 45000 too
