My mother accidently ripped the perforated vinyl on my lovely 500 sport front seat the other day. After much cursing her, i am trying to get the seat repaired but am having major difficulties.

After emailing fiat uk, i was told to contact my dealer directly who would be able to supply parts to repair the seat. however fiat wanted to charge me £250 for replacing the whole seat cover for the sake of a tear about 2 cm's in length on one panel.

I just wanted to know if anyone who works for fiat or an enthusiast could tell me if fiat could supply me just a piece of the fabric for the seat or of where abouts i could buy the fabric from. Despite asking for the fabric manufacturers name, fiat uk where unwilling to help and i really cant see the point in wasting a lot of money to replace the whole seat cover.:bang:

A local car upholstery repairs centre said he could replace just the seat panel with out a problem at the cost of £48 inclusive of fabric but he neither had the fabric in stock.

many thanks carla :D

i hate to say but the mum (dizzie cow):) rested the wheels of her suitcase on the chair whilst she was waiting for me. As she pulled up the suitcase up, the wheel has torn and scuffed the chair.

ive took it a repair centre and they said i need a whole new panel, im not sure as its vinyl if it can be repaired.

They should be able to apply a patch to the underside and /glue seal the edges of the tear

The place you went to might not have that sort of kit

I've had to do this quite a few times on motorcycles with split seats.

Best way we've found is to cut a patch about half as big again as the split. Best material for the job is a heavyweight nylon, (we've got an old motorcyle waterproof suit that does the job)
Feed the patch through the split ,open out and centre up under the hole. Then glue down all round, With bikes we use a silicon glue (a bit like silicon sealant) you can get it from halfords in a small tube with a fine nozzel just right for getting in under the fabic- sticks well and is flexible, wipe off any excess with a damp cloth and hey presto. If you take your time and are careful you will have to look hard to see the split. PS dont sit on it for at least 12 hours.
