Yesterday, something strange happened with my 2024 Panda. Even though every door was closed, the door-ajar light on the dash stayed on, and it specifically pointed to the right rear door. In addition, the key fob wouldn't lock the car, and when I used the physical key, I could only lock the driver's door. I'm planning to replace the key fob battery today, but I'm not sure if that's actually the problem. Any ideas?

Hi 🙂

It sounds like the sensor in the door is faulty.. 🤔

Cannot use locking, as it "Thinks" the door is open 😉

I have a 23 plate Panda Cross from new and had an issue with my left rear door about 4 months in - noisy mech and light on dash too.
The door mech was replaced under warranty by the dealer and no problem since.

If the car thinks a door is not closed, the central locking will not work. So changing the key battery won’t help you.

There’s a switch inside each door catch that senses if the doors are open or closed - as well as confirming they are shut, this also turns the inside light on and off.

Either your door catch is faulty, or the wires connected to it are damaged.

Your car is still covered by Fiat warranty so go to them first. But also have a read of the other threads in this forum that describe a broken wire between the car and the door that causes this problem. One is here (different door, same problem) and there are links from this to other posts: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/drivers-door-open-on-dash.514212/post-4792900

Problem solved – the plug connecting the frame to the door was loose. Once I ensured it was securely seated, everything worked perfectly. If only all issues were this straightforward. Thanks for the input, everyone!
Could you please tell me where the plug is? I’m having the exact same issue on my panda city cross right now.

I had the same problem and the cause was the black wire was broken. After struggling with the soldering iron this is now resolved and no longer get the 'rear door open' warning.

However whilst the other 3 doors now lock with the central locking, the rear right one doesn't.
I can lock by it from the inside.

I couldn't see any other wires damaged.

Does anyone have any suggestion?

Thanks

Oddly our 16 reg car has an off side door issue. Its started whining as its unlocked. Regrettably I think a new lock is required. Get the lock out, reconnect it where you can see whats going on and investigate. Clean it thoroughly with carb or brake cleaner. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Lubricate with silicon lube or lock lube. Drench the thing!. Lube the mechanical parts you can see with a little white lithium grease and recheck. Hopefully it will be OK. You can check wires / voltages while you have the lock out.

Ive just set out my next days work on PB3 (Pandabird 3)

Shop4Parts seem to be cheaper for a new Fiat lock than eBay for a second hand one! They are not cheap, c £65 (Fiat want £167)

Thanks for the update on the solution though its very useful.

Ive seen one too many rear dorrs wont unlock posts on here to leave a possibly faulty door lock unfixed!!
