When the padlock is present the car might crank and it might not crank. In either case the car won't start. You should just get a new key.

Do you have any other logic except replacing the key??? As per my knowledge the car should cranck even if there is lock symbol

I thinking usually you can get a diagnosis for around 25 maybe more if mobile diagnostics but they should be able to see if it's a immobilizer fault or key not communicating with ecu

I would go the professional diagnosis way or you could be paying for a key and it's different fault

I've given my experience of this exact problem.

As per my knowledge the car should cranck even if there is lock symbol
