I was thinking that if we all met at your house Gavin for the first run in there would then be enough of use to go back and bring what's left in one more trip.

homeward said:If the five cars doesn't include mine -- and there's three of us -- then I'm not so sure it can be done....
Does this make sense?
- Cars A, B and C drive there, individually; car C drives back, with all three drivers.
- Cars C, D, E drive there, individually... -- if the five includes Pippin: job done; otherwise... -- car C drives back, with two drivers.
- If not... -- cars C and F drive there, individually. Job (really) done.

This is part of a message I've just sent to Gavin, assuming there are six cars (A through F); and three drivers (Gavin, Bob, et moi...):
So, the question is: how many cars, with how many drivers...? :bang:
Comments, ideas, or general abuse welcome![]()
Sounds good to me!
- Drivers A B C D E take Cars 1 2 3 4 5; leaving Driver A, and Cars 1 2 3 4, at the rally.
- Drivers B C D E return in Car 5.
- Drivers B C D E take Cars 5 6 7 8. Huzzah!
I know it's a slightly strange request: but can Pippin and I be Driver E, in Car 5, please? Because of my various infirmities, it takes me a while to adjust to a new car: and I'd rather not be responsible for knackering either someone-else's clutch, or my own LSD (as in diff -- meaning my neck... -- not drugs...).
That way, you can all laugh at my lousy gearchanges....
PS: My dad was a maths teacher; and, as I remember, the answer was always three bananas, a pineapple, and sixteen kumquats....![]()
Well Pinky is now over with me & looking forward to the Chiltern Hills on Sunday.
He went much better than I expected VmanC - the engine sounds good and everything was smoother than Chiaro (3rd is starting to crunch if you're a hooligan I think - not that I was you understand). Although he felt quick, he didn't quite have Chiaro's edge & lost a lot more speed up the top of the Marlow bypass than Chiaro does - I was down to 70 at one point!!!
He does feel very PINK . I had a load of cyclists pointing and shouting at one point - I think it was in a good way..........![]()
Yes I agree. Chairo does have more top end power for some reason, maybe it's down to better compression as Chairo has nearly 100,000 miles less on the clock.
I've had a tinker and Chairos engine is now as smooth as Pinky,sThe big tyres are stressing the suspension so it still doesn't ride as smooth as Pinky but its still pretty good!
I MIGHT be able to come. I've managed to get a sister to look after my poorly Mother for the weekend. My main issue now is money, with my Mum being ill I haven't been able to do many work shifts.
How much is it to get in on the day? If I can afford to get up there and get her in I'll come.
Better not make him too good though, or I may find an excuse to keep him!! As you've probably gathered I find it easier to buy than sell, and he's been a good little Panda
I have a rattle can of paint for Chiaro somewhere for if/when he becomes yours. You've got his name slightly wrong - it's ia in the middle (Chiaro = light coloured) - he said it's ok as you've been kind, but don't let it happen again :spin:
Shows tomorrow, or I'm very late![]()
:bang: Sorry!! With all the car cleaning action yesterday I presumed it was today! Plenty of time to get your fleet cleaned up then Gavin![]()

Well there's clean and homeward obsessive!!
...a Meguiars big fluffy stick thing (I forget the name)...
Obsessive? Moi?
I have yet to take the seats out, and the big rubber bin liner that counts as luxury in a 750L, and wax the inside....
I think you'll find it's Reginald....
