Hi,

I'm picking up my 2021 Yellow Panda Cross tomorrow which we have nicknamed Mr Happy!

I'm looking for a spare wheel kit and have seen a second hand one on ebay.

I know i need the taller jack with 4x4 written on it but all the seller has told me is that it is the 900kg version, i thought it was a 1000kg version.

Not fussed by originality so i'm looking at the following - https://www.carnoisseur.com/products/details/road-hero-spare-wheel-kit-to-fit-fiat-panda-rh001-1

Does anyone have any experience of this kit and did it come with the correct height jack? My enquiries were met with a chatbot generated response!!

Looking forward to many happy years pandering. I have had a panda easy for a few years but decided to upgrade for a bit of fun, practicality and who knows maybe a future classic?

Cheers

Tim

The bigger jack does NOT fit in the in-wheel carrier. It has to be carried in a separate bag / case. Fiat 500X, Doblo, Bravo 198 Jacks would all do. Prices vary wildly so watch the market before buying. These sizes seem reasonably plentiful.

The weight lifted by the jack is only (roughly) half that of the car, as ‘the other side’ stays on the ground. The 4x4 Panda weighs around 1.1 tonne so the jack will be lifting about 600kg tops.
Note that the genuine Fiat jack has an asymmetric top part that correctly fits the sill. Most aftermarket jacks have a level top that doesn’t fit and support the sill correctly. (I can add photos to show what I mean, but not now as it’s dark :)

Hard to tell in the photos but I don’t think the top’s the right shape. Mine has a u-shaped slot which the sill seam fits into and a flat section either side which bears on the sill itself, but at two slightly different heights. The photo appears to show a single contact flat area with a curved section beyond it. I would take a photo of mine, but while the Panda is in Hertfordshire, I’m currently 100 miles from it.
I do like the folding wheel chock though…

Edit: you can see the top of the Panda jack in this listing (but note the wheel here is the wrong size for a 4x4 Panda) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176776605823

That's the one. can't get a definitive answer if it's the correct jack. Also the aftermarket kits come with extra safety stuff so think i'll go along that route. Cheers. Tim
Jack in the photo is unsuitable as the slot in the top is not deep enough.
Im looking for a Panda jack and they are now expensive and like hens teeth.
Jacks from 500x and doblo or Bravo 198 are good and suitable for the 4x4 . Standard Panda jack is not tall enough.
If I can find a Pand 2wd jack I will have a Punto jack spare which may also do as its definitely bigger than the standard Panda 2wd car jack.

traditional breakdown services (AA, RAC only?) presumably still assist with punctures - so they must have a nifty adjustable ‘top part’ to fit all cars+vans?

Edit to add: on 2nd thoughts they’re going to have a hydraulic lifter 🙄

AA, RAC will Jack on chassis ( or worse case) axle/subframe. A standard Jack will work with a piece of 2x4 or similar. Living rural, carry a piece of steel chequered plate as a better base for Jack.

I agree it does not look like its right.

Worth carrying your “puck” rubber/plastic disk, I.e. an ice hockey puck to put on top of the hydraulic trolley Jack head to avoid damage to chassis protection. Same when going for tyres.

Note these need a flat and full width support under or they break in two. I have several now but need a plate making for my jack to stop it happening again. The seller gave me a discount off two replacements but did say I told you so on the description page.

The jack isn’t easy got I bought mine from shop4 parts it was a lot of money

My jack was Fiat 500L I think complete in a case with fuel funnel, chock wheel bag wheel brace and a space for the wheel key. £30 but that was a year or two back. Watch and wait. This is like the annoying member who go a set of 15" Panda Alloys and gtyres for £70!!! I would be all over them like a rash at twice the price. Do multiple searches on eBay Fiat parts, spares, jacks, accessories and any other likely thing you can thing off. I found my chrome mirror caps for my bravo in the sewing section £30 which was REALLY cheap. Jacks have shot up in price, and Im still hunting for a standard panda jack.
