cheers peeps....

well so far got all the seats and belts, carpet, door cards(well rotton) and all the wood framing from rear.

metal work is just surface rust, used wire brush to have a look and its in great condition.

more picks to follow..

kevin

PS, i tried to start it today, turned over fine....checked the plugs, oil(clean) water(pissed out every where untill i found a metal plug from block sat on starter motor, pushed back in by hand and stopped leaking)
now there is no spark to plugs so i reckon the coil is dead, how can i check this with my meter???
or can someone advise what process i need to do to get it running......chopped fuel lines so using fuel can and fuel getting into carb...just no spark......

any ideas or help very welcome as i would like to get it running before i remove it so i know when it goes back it runs else its an upgrade....but wanted to do this later than sooner....

coil on your gallery pics do not look good. you can check it by ohmmeter, and you should read few ohms betveen + and - and lot more ohms between - and central HT coil comnector. on your gallery pic + and - coil pole looks without clean connection, its very rusted. coil body is disaster too. i think you will need new coil.

After testing your coil (by ohmmeter) and after cleaning and rescrew + and minus coil power supply, conect testef central HT lead from coil to distributor central conn. before that remove distributor cap and checl for cracks and check inside gfiafite conector with push spring, than check rotor arm, and near condenser etc. on distriburtor. then clean all conectors and/plugs and conect all HT leads by proper order to proper sparks... should start quickly if its ok. And just not to forget to worn you- you mention that you return by hand one metal plug to the engine block. its probably safety plug for the case of freezing block, and behond this plug is engine coolant. after engine start, coolant system will reach preassure of abt 1 bar, so im not sure that hand returned plug will be able to keep this coolant preasure. if you start your sweet engine, habe this on mind, and kreep your eye on this metal plug for some reasonable time. loosing this plug during engine ride could result in loosing coolant and massive damage. I think that this metal plug should be hardly pressed into engine block together with some sealant or by using heat and cool technick.

thanks ACA, i only returned the plug by hand to hold water so i turn it over to see if it runs, soon as it does i am happy then, all the tuning etc will be done after refit.

yes the coil , does look naff, going to get a new one and try again, did check with meter from + on coil and got 02.5 ish reading but did not check the HT lead end...do that sunday, i did take a plug out connected to lead and turned over with no spark? so try again.......

the wiring loom is butchered tho just to get basic functions when the car was built, also there are no lights on dash when ignition is on......just want to see if it starts before i remove it cos if not then need to find another....

cheers

kevin

Yes, this plugd looks usually as rondela (thin rounded metal sheet profile) anf engine block got 4 or more this plugs sized ad larger metal coins. this plugs fall out of engine block in case that coolant excess working preassure or in case of frozen coolant due to expansion of liquid. it is beter to kick out plug than to broke engine block on some other place (between cylinders or so). this plugs is usuallu mounted on block by press vith some pressmachine, or by inserting cooled (frosen) plugs into hot engine block. in that case plug in normal rngine operation will have same shrinking factor as engine block, and will be kicked out only in case of excessive preasure or freezing coolant, watever the case.
Sorry I wrote from mobile and I am in hospital due to cytho-therapy so do not mind for my English and grammar.

Hi guys........well i purchased a full panda 1000 fire engine with an ECU under left side dash.....i think its a spi engine....

this will be my new donor for the onyx seeing as it was taxed upto may this year its a straight transplant...

dedicated is one thing because i went to my sisters from bradford to hereford on friday night and saturday drove back to bradford to drop it off then back to hereford and now back home......done 795 miles this weekend,,,,,,man tired now...

the donor has a twin sunroof so not sure of model panda, will post a picture tomorrow in my gallery so you can see it...

oh by he way i bought it for £180......and a set of ally wheels with new tyres for £50 quid from same place....bargain weekend

cheers all

off for a well deserved beer,,,,,,

I bought the whole car........even has a radio with tape and tiny speakers on the dash lol....

started up today and ran a bit fast, flicked the throttle cable then it hunted 3 times then revs back up high on tick over........soon as i get it transplanted then questions will be a coming hahaha..

cheers all

posted some picks of the donor panda....

in gallery..

let me know what ya think....oh and the alloys in the boot i got from same place., 4 new tyres as well..

if any body wishes any parts of this before it gets weighed in for scrap value( thats after i stripped all the running gear, loom, pod etc,etc for the onyx)

will have this car for a fair few weeks yet as i will be removing from panda, cleaning and painting part then fitting to onyx, part by part...

thanks

kevin

to be honest not sure, it was in a scrap yard in hereford.....it has got crane chain marks on the roof line now tho where they lifted it but i presume it failed mot and the owner didnt want to get it done???

shame i know but i do apologise for its forth coming dismantle...

it was an offer i couldn't refuse really seeing as the parts i removed from the onyx was well rusty but usable.

noticed as well it has a crank sensor(presume this is normal for a this car) and also has a gizmo above the radiator, like a coiled wire with 3 connectors to it, think its for the fan??

cheers for the interest

kevin

Hi I also have a firefly, 1000 fire engine. Bought as a cleaned and repainted chassis then the guy found out it's a lot easier to take things apart than put them back together. The boxes of bits are now a running car, brakes work, am now up to the respraying and repairing considerable body damage, but getting there. There was no windscreen with the car, would you happen to know what car its from? I will post some pics when I can figure out how. Computers are not my strong point. If I can help in you any way, don't hesitate to ask. These cars must be very rare now. All the best. Steve.:)
