Hi kevin not really sure what the seats are from as they were in the car when I bought it. However I am thinking of putting in seats from a french micro car I found as they are the same size but half the weight. They are just bolted to the floor as there is not room to move them back any further, as long as the backs tilt to give access to the boot space.

Seats on ebay are nice and cheap..(y)...go for what you like and will fit best..(obvious statement I know..) I got some bucket type ones from a Gen 7 Toyota celica for £35... Vern is the top seat man on this forum..:)..all properly cheaper than a re-trim.

I have set up a photobucket account so should soon have some pics of the Fly. I think I'm a bit ahead of you Kevin. But the bodywork rejelcoating and spraying is slow going. If you think it might be of use to you I have the original build manual, if you want one I'm sure we can find a way of getting one to you. I also got a hard top for mine but am working on a soft top adapted from an old mx5 top, surprisingly a close fit. As the bonnet was damaged I have fitted round mini indicators reccessed into the bonnet.

would be interested in the build manual as this onyx is the prototype from David Golightly who designed and built it......hence alot of work to be done as its been in his barn for 5 years....

asked for the plans but he cant find them yet.

yeh the body work on this ok but will need some serious sanding before paint....

where are you based, would be interested in a visit for look if not too far from Bradford...

i have an hard top as well but needs cutting to fit as its from the mould....

not putting side windows in mine because when they designed this one it has no winders or runners, just perxpex sheets slottted in but the frames in the doors are well mashed, need to fabricate new frames for the doors to fit to so gonna make them flush at top, well thats the idea any ways but would like winedy windows...

cheers kevin

Sorry for the delay don't get on the computer everyday. I'm based in the sticks near Leighton Buzzard Beds. Hence the reason for the computer not being that reliable, on a dongle that chooses when it's going to work, or not. I think that my car is an early one too as the bonnet frame is ply as opposed to the later ones having metal stiffners. Would love a visit but it is a long way. Can post you a manual if you like, I can print one off no probs. Its not as detailed as I would wish but pretty good for guidlines, but still relies on your own inginuity. To be expected I guess.

Yes it worked and looking very good....

couple of questions.....

where is your battery box going
did you make the roll bar(if so i wanna put one as well lol)
how are you going to block the spray from back wheels into the rear of car(mine had plyboard bonded from frame to fibreglass) so i kept them as a template in case of redoing the same way.

i need replacement rear lights as the ones on at the moment are cracked and broken, them ones look cool but cant find ant Sierra mk1 lights.

oh and nice looking engine as well, did it take long to strip and paint.

cheers kevin

may have other questions later as i get to fitting stage.

arrr, the same place as my battery goes, i had to remove the tray as it was tooo small and rusty, will fabricate a new one me thinks.

how did you remove the filler panel between door and bonnet, i need to get in there really to check it out but mine seems like its rock solid stuck.

well i k-rust all the front frame and just gotta paint it now then its start removing from donor and refit..weeeehuuuuu cant wait.

i have some plans in me head at mo about a few things but how feesable they are another thing lol.

well i must say yours is looking well smart......keep going or i will catch you up..hahaha

The roll bar was on it, standard I think. The boot floor is half inch marine ply, silicone adhesive and self tappers. I made a glass fibre infill by taping a thin perspex sheet round a wheel glassing it up to form a half circle cutting it in half then just glassed them in to fill the gaps. will do the same
on the front, to stop the engine getting dirty. Like proper inner arches. I might be able to help with the lights I've got a set of sierra cosworth rears, but they are slightly longer than the standard lights by about an inch, not a problem to fit but they would cut down the number plate gap.I was going to either cut the number plate down a bit or put it on the bumper. I will post a picture of them. The engine was a lot of cleaning then painting anything that was easy to get off. The door infill was levered off using a hammer and screwdriver between the sill and pillar. Lots of groaning a swearing seemed to do the trick.

Manual on its way Kevin. Chin up, should all be worth while. Messed up my paint today, again, think drugs might be an answer!!

orr man, gutted for ya paint again....

yes interested in lights, not bothered if i have to do fibre glassing to make em fit but supppose thats the nature of building ya own car....

must admit that the smoked ones look mint with that colour.....

just watching a few bucket seats on fleabay at moment, going to see some close by maybe tonight or tommorrow but depends on the condition when i get there and how much they want.

will see how it goes cos i watching some 3 point harness as well so hope fully might be a fruitfull week..

cheers kevin

Just can,t seem to get the hang of two pack laquer, comes out like syrup. the base colour went on great. But the top orange peels every time. The cossy lights are lightly smoked aswell look brand new. I have slighly de smoked mine, did'nt know you could thats why I bought the others but then found if you t cut the surface it comes off.:slayer: Still after a screen do you know if you can still get them new?
