Technical On going clutch issues

Well lads, having on going issues after a new clutch install done a few months back. Issue one being jerky changes in the lowering gears meaning I have to tip toe of the clutch between shifts in order to get a smooth shift. Feels very similar to when an engine mount is going but the gearbox mount was replaced and the rest are fine. Issue two being a ridiculously high bite point and a lot of free play in the pedal. Have brought the car a Fiat specialist who tried bleeding the clutch and had a general check over to no avail. The only thing I can think of is I sourced a bit of a mix and match with parts for my mechanic, it’s a luk disc and pressure plate and a sachs csc bearing and we didn’t replace the flywheel. Could there be small differences between the the luk and sachs parts causing these issues. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated as im beginning to hate driving the car and I really don’t won’t to get rid. Thanks Ronan.

A while back.. the friction material was tricky to 'bed.in'

but that just produced 'judder'... not sure you would feel that in 2nd ( while rolling)

If youve ruled out AIR..



Maybe look at adding a Spacer between the Slave Cylinder and Arm

As it sounds like youve got too much 'free play' in the system.. possibly through mis.matched parts..


All cheaper and quicker than having it all apart again..

Re jerky gear changes, if it has a dual mass flywheel was it checked for wear when gearbox out, if a lot of slack it can have the same effect as worn engine mount type issue, sort of what I would call a double take up of drive, if you know what I mean.
In a low gear with foot off the clutch you may be able to duplicate it by going on and off the accelerator as driving.
Assuming no clutch hydraulic issue, something I have experienced on fitting new LUK clutchs in the past , but I thought they had overcome was very weak almost slipping from new, especially if you gave it a hard test. I would say generally as they bedded in it improved, although at the time I mentioned it to my supplier incase of any future failure.

Check the cambelt side engine mount. Not just visually, lift the engine from the sump and open the bolts. Vacuum clean and wipe under the rubber mount and make sure there's no sand left under there. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque. Your cheapest clutch job is done!

My previous garage didn't even bother to tighten the bolts correctly and clean under the mount when doing a cambelt job. I did it myself and my clutch is like a new! To my surprise garages don't always have high standards and morals when trying the get new jobs. Were they trying to sell me a clutch job!?

Thanks very much lads, I’m thinking that it must be the difference between the two manufacturers and the fact I didn’t change the fly, although the mechanic did say it looked ok. I’m wondering now should I try get a luk csc and dual mass or just bit the bullet and get a full kit and start again? it’s a hard kit to source as my tjet is a five speed and most are the GM six speed. eenno I will inspect the cam side mount.
