I have an oil leak from my t-jet 150. The oil is dripping from the rear end of the under tray. However the leak appears to be from the front of the engine low down. Its doesn't appear to be from any of the hoses but from a unit on the front of the engine block. Any ideas? Photo attached IMG_20170319_172804.jpg

There you have the oil filter and oil heat exchanger ( a sort of oil cooler, as well as the turbo oil feed.

It's going to be a dirty job, you need to first clean off all the oil... then track down the source of the leak.
If you are not really technical or just do'n want to get dirty just take it to a garage.
I could be something as simple as the oil filter cap not tightened..or the seal... but could as well be more complicated.

Transpired it was the sump plug that had perished. All fixed for free by the garage. Thanks for the help

My T-jet 120 had oil leak directly in the coolant/oil body between the "radiator" and the body on the bottom, see the yellow arrow.

It was very minimal leak and hard to find. But I am happy I found out soon, because this radiator is shared for coolant water and oil (who engineered this..)!

Edit: now I see another T-jet with exactly the same issue> https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/352905-gp-t-jet-oil-consumption-3.html?p=3513462
He has 75k miles, mine has 110k kms.

I'm posting this here just in case somebody else needs it.

The oil cooler on the first t-jets 150hp and 120hp was part number 55212027.
There is no aftermarket or OEM gasket/seal available for it.
For other versions of the oil cooler you can find a few options for gaskets.
For part number 55212027, the only way is to replace the entire oil cooler.(for one gasket :bang::bang::bang:)

After many searches i have found a guy in Poland that faced the same problem; he contacted a company and made custom gaskets the gaskets obviously included additional costs like another oil cooler, cad drawings..etc.

Here is a picture of the two main oil cooler types and their gaskets(you can see the gaskets will not be interchangeble):

I will be buying a gasket to replace the one on my t-jet, as it's been slowly leaking for quite a long time. Hopefully it will cure the leak.

If anybody else is interested here is the link to his advert on the Polish site OLX.
Price is comparable/cheaper to the Chinese gaskets for other versions of the oil cooler.

I hope i remember to update this, with the results after i replace the gasket.

Yes, that's right - I am the person from Poland who decided to solve the problem with leaking oil cooler (number 55212027) in my Fiat Bravo 2 TJet 120 by designing and ordering custom gaskets (based on the original seal) as there was no other option than buying whole new oil cooler for about 200 EUR :)

So far everything is fine with the new gasket, no problems- there are no leaks.

If somebody needs the gasket- please send me private messeage

The same gasket is also in other T Jets (i.e Grande punto, Doblo, Linea, Alfa Mito, Lancia Delta) with oil cooler
55212027 - you can chcek your car in fiat eper if you want to be sure or I can do it for you (VIN is needed)

For newer version of the oil cooler (not 55212027 but 55236756 ) there is an alternative on the market - NISSENS 90969 replacement for about 50-60 EUR

is it normal to see oil on the inside of the turbo at the hose thats connected to the AirBox?

mine Tjet 150 is at 150K km, should i look for a new turbo replacement or it is a norm?

Thanks

Normal ....to a degree.
Probably not caused by turbo, but by the oil separator getting clogged up and not doing it's job 100%,

Yes, I confirm, I have been selling gaskets on eBay for some time. But for fiatforum members it is cheaper (please send a private message if someone wants to buy cheaper without eBay fee)

Recently I have also gaskets for a newer oil cooler 55236756 (used in T JET engines from 2010) - you can also order directly or buy on eBay
