Technical Odd Twinair error.. Investigations

I think this is an excellent idea.

If we could find some way of correlating live MES data with known faults, and also get a baseline of what a car in good order should look like, this could help a lot.
Well touch wood mine at 20K is running very well. But im not good at computers. I will however have a go at getting some data. What settings does anyone reckon are needed to collect what is wanted?

Others may be better placed to advise what to monitor, but basically you're looking to create a repeatable test and collect data using that test at regular intervals. What you then do is look for changes in that data over time.

Examining a trend will tell you much, much more than just looking at a single reading.

A simple example is that you can't infer much detail from a single compression test (unless something is glaringly wrong), but if you repeat that test every three months, and it stays basically the same, then one time it's a bit different, you know something has happened.

From MES. Doesxthis suggest a full reset may be useful, and, doesxit suggest that it does account for milage. What is thevphonic wheel. Is the reset on that to do with a timing chain change.

It seems to me this is talking about replacing the uniair module itself, not replacing the oil.
Yes it is. But is it also indicative of an old unit affecting ecu parameters as a new one wants these zeroing? If so I woder what and how. There seem to bea few parameters that are possibly being stored in ECU. i may write to Fiat Technical and ask what parameters does tge ecucollect store and reference. It appears
total miles on the uniair unit
Mikes since last oil change reset
Uniair temperature
oil temperature
phonic wheel

are all relevant. So I wonder is this all.
The there is of course ignition timing, coils, and injection as well, MAF and athmospheric pressure feeding in as well.

Those last two photos, 'phonic wheel learn reset' is what I think @Big gerry was talking about, he mentioned in a post that he had revved the engine up to 6000 rpm X 3.

I'm sure he was talking about the 'oil reset procedure' on his TA 4x4?

Maybe I picked him up wrong but my understanding is that you do a service reset and an oil reset using mes when the oil change has been done

Those photos show a 'phonic wheel learn reset procedure' and should be carried out after a phonic wheel has been replaced. What is a phonic wheel BTW?

Yep you re right on those things. Phonic wheel. I always assumed the cam sprocket, but it could be a specific part to reset the cam timing in relation to the cam sensor. I have not seen anything in the Panda workshop book indicating a specific part.

Had a look on mes simulation mode and notice that there's a service interval reset option available and also an oil change option available (below) depending on the engine version.

So does this mean after an oil change, oil filter change and air filter change then the service interval reset procedure has to be carried out plus the oil change procedure for the UniAire module?

Thanks

Tony

Hi guys, so I did an oil change yesterday plus air filter also tried to replace the oil filter but couldn’t remove the filter from the oil canister cover and didn’t want to force it so I reinstalled the old filter in order to get the car back working but I’ve ordered a new cover, oil filter and sump plug and I’ll replace the oil filter when the new cover turns up.

Also did a service reset on mes which was really simple and tried to do an oil change reset (above) but there was an error saying something about the wrong ISO I tried a couple of times and even tried the two other options below the first one in the engine section (I’ll post a photo later on) so I’m not sure that I managed to carry out the oil change reset I ended up abandoning it took the car for a run and it appears fine but does anyone know what’s going on here.

Thanks

I have had a word with Gendan about this error message. You can ignore it. There is aparently only one version for the TA and they have not assigned all the ISO numbers to this in the software. Hence the error message. I was told it will work correctly. It does. I was incidentally offering to pay for an upgrade if necessary and they said it was not. I have also done these ops and they all worked OK. All the software functionality seems to work so I have now stopped worrying about it. Its irritating because I am a bit OCD and control freaky but if it works OK.... Had the same issue with Daffo but again everything works.

Thanks, so do you just hit 'execute' and ignore the error message?

Aye I'm a bit OCD myself but I'm going to leave it now as my wife thinks I'm going mad :ROFLMAO:

Here's the photos.

Basically yes. I had issues getting the cars menu screen showing 9000miles to next service. I had to set the service interval in Multi ECU Scan in km. Its about 15250. (check me) Then reset the service interval and the car reads 9000 miles to next service in the service menu.. It all went through OK after that.

Basically yes. Green on Go! I had to tell multiecuscan how many km the service interval is in km to give the reading of 9000 in the cars computer on hte dash first c. 15250km Then do the reset and the correct interval appears on the dash when you go menu/ service
Before I rest the interval the car said something daft like 8 miles to mext service and 365 days.....
