Numerous issues with my three year old Fiat500 star! Mileage of 16.000 and has just failed it's MOT! This is the third time it's required parts which aren't available!! Fed up being placated by customer services now and rapidly losing patience. Is there a head office or another number one can ring/email to get some answers please?

Service is pretty poor these days, mind you if you quoted the age in your post when ordering the parts you realise why they may be out of stock, still mileage is good for the year;)

On your sun visor you should have a number for Fiat customer services. This used to connect you with Fiat in Milan. I have found they try to help. Unfortunately Fiat UK are a complete waste of space and do not support their dealers properly. If you tell us what the parts are someone may be able to point you to a supplier that can help. Shop4Parts are an independent family run firm based in Bradford. They specialise in supplying parts and can get many original Fiat parts for less than Fiat charge and deliver within 24 hours. If you ring them Mick is a very pleaseant and helpful man.

Hi🙂

Is this an EV? 🤔

Modern MOT may have additional measures..?

Do you mind sharing which parts it has had issues with..?

Broken road springs may feature.. From my experience 😔

Hi
It's not an EV.
It failed on emissions and needs two parts to correct the problem. I'm afraid I don't know what the parts are...they did tell me but I was mega stressed and didn't really take it all in!🙈They have no idea when one of the parts will be available.😞

If it's out of warranty, 🤔

Worth trying shop4parts

They can supply most parts 👍

Seems a bit poor to fail on that at the age and mileage, is it only used for short journeys and slow speeds?
Mainly short journeys but some longer runs too. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Last year the alternator went on the A1! They had to source the part from Italy...it took weeks.

Without seeing the Mot emission fail points, it may have just needed a good blast for 30 miles or so to clear the cobwebs out and get it fully warmed up.
Just a thought and assuming no error /warning lights up , it may be worth giving it a "spirited run" and taking it to a basic Mot Station, one of my old customers used to take her car to the local Council Depot as they did public Mots as well as their own and had no axe to grind as didn't do any public repairs, just Mots.

Agreed 👍🏻 My sister in laws Panda failed on emissions last year. An ‘Italian tuneup’ later and it passed. She mostly does local runs too.

Thank you! That's very interesting. Unfortunately, my car is still at the dealership where it had the MOT. I wasn't allowed to drive it home after it failed the MOT so I now have to wait until they can find the parts, repair it and then MOT it again. The compressor has also gone in the air-con so they need to sort that too. The whole thing is a disaster and I am so disappointed. 😞

If it only failed on emissions why would they say not to drive it? Sounds like not very helpful.

They said it's illegal to drive an MOT failure. Apparently you are only allowed to drive to a garage for a repeat MOT. Not helpful at all and only because I had a massive hissy fit, they have got me a courtesy car! None available at the dealership so they've had to hire one at their expense!!!!
