I recently smashed the nearside mirror and rather than pay Fiat £400 i purchased n Ebay one at £80 or so. No problems fitting and wiring up. It works indicators and moving but it is not accepted by the van so the orange warning light will not go off. Any ideas as to how to sort out other than £400 on a Fiat original????

Is it because it doesn't have all the functions of the original?
Sometimes it is possible to rob the bits from the broken one and fit to the new one.
Things like heating, temp sensors and self parking, as well as the indicator side.
Another thing I do with a new one is oil it and make sure if knocked it has more chance of folding out the way as some are very stiff.

Make sure it is the correct wattage bulb. They did change sometime in the production range. Something in the back of my mind says 5w or 16w but can't remember any more other than there were some with amber bulbs with a clear cover and others with clear bulbs with amber covers??
Check the bulb in your good mirror and confirm the bulb is the same in your new one.

Yes, totally right.

There's athread somewhere here describing the problem with photos.

detail here:

The temp sensor is normally in the O/S mirror on RHD vehicles, though.
I agree but just offer the example in the general case for the benefit of others who might pass this way.
The dealer from whom I was buying the van, LHD, was not aware of the reason for the fault when they replaced a mirror, had to bring it to Fiat for Diagnostics
Keep well
