Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
Tacho cable is a reb cable witha black line, pretty sure it goes through the big bundle of wires, goes throught the passenger side loom to the tacho via the D4 connector.

With regards to vents, you need one on the top of the tank and on the filler. If you only vent the filler, when the tank is almost full, it will spit back when filling as there's nowhere for the air to escape, and also if filled cold, driven so it expands and then you remove the filler cap, you get showered.

You can run the tank vent up to the top of the filler neck though, and then just fit a vent on the cap.

Cheers,

Kristian

ah this is good to know. Can i get away with fitting a T piece into the pipe that runs up there already?

Or break out the small drill bits and modify the existing cap ;)

you are going to have to sleep with the MOT tester to get this thing through an MOT anyway so I doubt they would ever even notice a small hole in the cap

Know of any good looking MOT testers? lol.....

Shouldnt be too bad i all honesty as it will be going for a engineers report to see if anything needs adapting...

Structually the cars pretty much done... will be welding an extra bar inplace to sit behind the dash as an extra safety feature... not that the mot guy will see it anyhow...

Got the car turning over and starting with the aid of a few new parts...

The fuel pump has let us down, as it doesnt have enough pressure... It worked for a day, and now the pump is very quiet, and there is no pressure in the rail....

Ive ordered a 2.0 16v one thats matched to the engine, so should be here wed/thurs...

Ive also had the fans wired up, and all the electrics sorted, other than the alarm, which i will fit as soon as i get chance...

Tomorrow i will be fitting my custom carpet (modded seicento carpet).. and the seats...

when it comes to mot you need to take a datasheet from the original manufacture of the engine so you can prove that the engine in teh car is what you say. they then do the emission test based upon that engine (not a 1.1 fiat)

I will be getting an engineers report on the car when complete, then updating the log book and relevant stuff as soon as possible as the insurance is only another £80 on top of what im paying.

I also need to declare it as soon as poss as the C20XE im using can legally run without a cat.... And the police and VOSA people are all over the place around here lol.

Had a bit of a busy one today....

Ive fitted in my cut and shut carpet into the seicento, which i think looks better than it being stripped out..

Ive also fitted the sporting seats back in place, and then attacked the pipework with some Mequiars NXT Gen Metal Polysh (as they spell it)....

I then went about removing the naff glass, and fitting the glass i had bought, and tinted myself a few weeks ago.. Along with new window rubbers... (i know the tint is really dark... supposed to be medium smoke, but it is under a shelter so looks darker than it actually is...)

Ive also 'T' pieced the fuel tank vent into an existing pipe (which i think is possibly a vent thats under the filler cap itself for the spilt fuel...) and will be trying to locate a vented filler cap asap...

The only other major thing ive done is fibreglass the rear of my headlight (3 layers of matting).. and fitted into place.

Heres a few pics...

Loving the red colour of the block, whats the plan for the front, will the bumpers still fit?

Lol cheers, its a custom mix with Rover nightfire red (closet match to the seats i could get from memory) and a flick of silver metal flake...

As for the front, the standard bumper does fit.. although its been modified at the rear due to the rad, and ive had to loose the fog lights also, but other than that the car should be looking standard ;)

Just have the abarth spoiler and skirts to fit now :D and get rid of the orange bits...

Ive bought the abarth 14" wheels which are fitted at the min.... But then im trying to get hold of some 15" 6j MG wheels with a skinny 165 50 15 tyre for some sexy stretch on the tyres...

Ive bought some punto GT turbo brakes from the classified's section, so these will be fitted as soon as they turn up.

Hopefully the bumper won't get a bit melty... ;)

Is the beam from that headlight ok, does it look like you've cut a load out but it's really a little bit and you've matted the whole thing to make it stronger?

Maybe paint the inside of them black like Cinq sporting light units as a finishing touch, if you can be bothered with popping the lenses off - only the housing mind, not the reflector :p

Again, nice to see your project still going :)
