It ha been a few weeks now and Autotek AT0BTDG500 500ml Bumper and Trim Spray Paint - Dark Grey £7 from Amazon is holding up well. I did abotu 3 coats no primer or top coat.

You ask abotu sanding and taking a long time. I did not sand.
I had to rush the whole thing ... life. Session taking out and doing first cleaning off. 1/2 day and then half a sunny day final prep, painting, then put them back in place to do final drying. I think the next day I did a few hours doing door handles. Qucik wipe then spar 3 coats and put back to cure

Get the gunked wetted in solvent "let it work in a bit" then scotch brite pad pad. This is soft and nylon so does not scratch the plastic underneath.
Take it down with both coats of dark and liqht grey coming off where possible. Underneath should then be flat. I could not get all heater panel to dark grey plastic.
Before painting clean off with solvent - do a test piece and make sure that works out with your paint and solvent.
I masked of the insert bits of the round dials, using a craft knife. then painted the thin inner bits by hand. After used cotton bud with solvent on to clean up the numbers and pictures on the recessed bits and rouge bits of paint. That bit went well in the end.
Looks OK when driving, if you get close in you see some bits but from where it started from and the time/money involved really pleased. See the 2 photos

My touch up job has lasted well for 5 years. Linked this post yesterday for someone doing a repair.
Door handles still look good too. Should have smoothed a bit more before spraying.
My 2010 flat chested multi is starting to show signs of needing this refurb.
