Technical Fiat Multipla 2004 Fan Blower Problem

You have told us you have checked every fuse in the car and they are all working perfectly ....so the problem must be elsewhere.

I said that I checked every fuse I could find, I think that there is a good chance that I am missing a fuse somewhere, its not that easy to locate all the fuses. Thats why I would like to eliminate that possibility by running a direct power line to the unit to see if it works. If it does then at least I have a working fan and can stop searching for the elusive problem.

Find a circuit diagram for the blower fan and post it on here

I have looked everywhere but haven't found wiring diagrams for the Fiat Multipla yet. That is why I joined the Fiat Forum, as I knew that there would be people here who have a lot of Knowledge here to share

Yes you are correct there are a lot of people on this forum that want to help.
For instance if I had the diagram I would share it with you but I do not.
You have the incentive to keep looking for a diagram because your car has the fault.

If you are lucky someone may give instructions how to find a diagram via elearn. That is if one is available for a 20 year old car.

Thank you, I appreciate every bit of input a lot

It's not the diagram in first link as that diagram is for the non-electronic non-climate control version.

Possibly not, but the 2nd link is to the site with the whole car info on it, so OP can browse to their hearts content, as there is a whole section on electrics and ancilliaries. Worth a look at the sections for the help he needs.

Yes 100% very good of you to post those things. Thank you Hugh

I didn't want the op to leap on the first link so felt I had to post

Thank you so much. I looked, the info is phenomenal.......my brains not so much........The fuse box seem to have been left in a mess with previous people who looked for things, the relays and some fuses are unclipped, so just hanging around loose which makes it difficult for me to read on a diagram.......I suspect that it could be in one of those that the problem can lie......I dont know. When I look at all these diagrams, I can follow some but once again I have to be clued up enough to identify where it runs and I lose track. I will keep looking and try and find elements that I can test.... It was due to the complicated nature of folloing the wiring, I was attempting to create a solution by running a new wire from say the Cigarette lighter to the fan or the speed control unit. This was just a way that I could comprehend what Im doing and that I can be a 100% sure that the speed control unit and the fan is getting power without a possible fuse problem spline. So if anyone can explain this to me exactly what to do or check in a simpler way, that would really help. As I said before Im just a novice at doing this kind of advanced work.

Your only sensible solution is to run a fused wire to the terminal on the motor for the orange wire plus a wire from the black terminal on the motor with a switch (so you can turn the fan on and off) to a ground point of vehicle.

Especially as no one knows when the fan last worked.

The system is more complicated than you imagine.

Thank you, yes after testing the motor with a wire from the battery and an earth to see that it worked, I decided that was what I was going to do....its just after that that I became more adventurous when it looked like I could possibly rewire it so that I could still use the variable speed dial and the Resistor....... but I think you right, I should just eep it simple....thank you for all your effort and time to reply

OK, apparently, according to the link I posted earlier, further investigations reveals that there is a relay, J35 that controls the fan circuit? Link below!
https://4cardata.info/elearn/186/2/2006203/2000603/2001597/2892631. (page describes the function)
Possibly this may be the problem, if it has either failed, or got stuck in the closed position??
Worth a look perhaps??

Hi Hugh,
That is super nice of you to look up .
Unfortunately that only applies to the non climate control fan system using the dumb resister type speed controller , not the electronic speed controller.
I think the op is very much out of his or her depth and much better off simply trying to run fan at full speed as suggested.
Cheers Jack

Thank you - that could be a great possibility. I looked at the link, and I can see the codes........I would like to know where this relay is situated so that I can check it......

You right there that Im out of my depth - Im a his. I still am prepared to follow every lead as it would be very sad if I override everything to result in a full speed fan and there was just something arbitary faulty along the line..... I did tests this morning, wit all wiring plugged in, I tested at the end of the orange line that arrives at the fan, and it measured 12 volts.. Does that mean that the black wire that get to the fan is what makes it turn?

Ok 12v orange wire means you just need a wire with a switch on the black wire to ground to make it work.

You could try a known good working fan speed controller but I expect you are not willing to find and buy one.
