General Mk2 C20XE Seicento - The Rebuild

Haha i hate xmas... want to hide under a rock till its over!!! As for the fiesta, it was great, but id be scared the engine would be worn a fair bit with the lack of fuel and high boost... Would leave it as a slag, and not touch!! Shame tho :(
Oh dear, another ebay slag in the making.. if i had space i would be tempted to save it but no space and no cash because of that bloody christmas thing people insist on

merry humbug lol (y)

Well today was the day where this idea became real....

After a 300mile round trip, and a lighter wallet i now have a van full of scrap metal!!

Ive got a load of seicento bits, my xe engine, shafts and a load of mounts and other bits i cant use... I need to shop about for LOADS of items to get the car running..... however the bulk lot was still a bargain!!

We had fun removing everything from the smashed up fiat... starting with taking a hammer to the cracked inlet.. This was due to the engine being hard to fit in the first place, however with a wacking great bend in the front, it was even harder to remove.

With the inlet manifold in two places (thanks to the hammer), i was able to crack on removing all the bits from the engine along with my mate & dan.

An hour or two the van was full, and i was able to see what had actually gone on in the accident...

Heres a pic of the damage...

To anyone (including myself) who moaned about the welding on the car being on the sh*te side... Pigeon sh*te to be exact, will be impressed that it was the only thing that stopped the fiat folding up...

Its nice to know the bar welding across the front took the most impact... Worrying tho, its wise to note the fiat crumple zone on the opposite side of the car crumpled quite badly lol...

None of the strut or side welding was damaged (the bits cut out)... however the panels that were welded by fiat (ones left untouched) were the bits that gave way....

Its good to know prior how bad these engine bays are in an accident standard.... I will be deffo getting my mate to weld another bar across the front, and brace a few bits with plating....

Here are some pics...

The 1st pic... The alloy inlet that had cracked all the way across
The 2nd pic... The sie from the top view
The 3rd pic... The side where the chassis was cut & rewelded but no damage
The 4th pic.. The same side as the cut... But the fiat crumple lol (underside)
The 5th Pic.. The bar from the underside of the car...

How is the search for a sei going?

Haha, its not really, been on here, ebay & gumtree on a daily basis, and not much around :( Will keep an eye out... dont want any old shed really, so i think il be stripping & building the engine ready to refit)...

I did want to get a sei so i could mock up the mounts on the engine, then remove & rebuild, however with a lack of a car, il crack on with the engine :D

all the best with it, loved your last project.

You not going to sell it as soon as is done are you?

Lol.. i always say i wont... However i want this one to go to a good few shows next year.. and deffo want to do the usual trax 0-60 run etc... so should have it for at least 10 months haha.. maybe after that il be looking at moving on...

One of the new inner CV joints has snapped inside the gearbox also... Not good haha.. just hope the shaft is okay.. Will upload a few more snaps of the other parts when i get them out the van tomorrow... Need it empty for work monday :( lol
