Hi and welcome to the forum

Fuel cutoff on the 500 is implemented via the airbag ECU.

There's a procedure involving the indicator switch to reset this; it's described in the manual (page 40 in mine).

Basically:

turn the ignition key to MAR

activate the right hand indicator

deactivate the right hand indicator

activate the left hand indicator

deactivate the left hand indicator

activate the right hand indicator

deactivate the right hand indicator

activate the left hand indicator

deactivate the left hand indicator

turn the ignition key to STOP.

If this doesn't work, check the integrity of the hatch wiring - loom failure has been known to trigger airbag ecu errors, including making the fuel cutoff unavailable.

Is this brought on by airbag use/errors

Or can a car that ' appears fine' just flag this error.

Sounds like amy 1 needs to plug in OBD kit anyway..

It’s kicked in after an accident which is obviously what it’s meant to do but randomly sometimes the indicator trick just won’t do it. Airbags gone or not doesn’t seem to be a factor.

Hi, did you ever get to the bottom of this and get the car working again? I have the same issue :( my car did this 5 weeks ago, we had to get it towed. The ECU has been sent away, flashed and reset and still the car is t working :( I’m at my wits end with it as they can’t seem to work out where the issue lies.
