Hi all,


Any idea if these would work on the 500L? In the user manual the bulb fitment for the 500L is W21/5W and is TYPE B in the manual listing. See two images below:

They look great on the white. On the red, I wouldn't really be looking. How much were the ones you bought?
 
At £30 to £40 each I definitely wouldn't bother, but if one goes, I might consider the ones listed on the post somewhere at £16.50 for the pair

They're close enough for it not to matter- I started with a pair of cool-
white 41mm LEDs, but didn't like the colour, so fitted those as the
number plate lights* and replaced the interior bulbs with 39mm warm-
white LEDs (which look much nicer, IMHO) I had to slightly bend the
contacts for these to fit snugly. A slight oddity: leakage current in
the electronic switching causes them to light dimly when 'off' but it's
not enough to cause any distraction :)

* I'm getting CANBUS errors with these, so will reluctantly have to fit a
load resistor :( The interior lights aren't monitored so don't cause errors.

Sorry but 42 mm c10w bulbs do not fit interior lights. I tried to bend the contacts all the way but still no luck so I eventually reordered 39 mm model. :(

Also a question for all you guys using led canbus DRL bulbs from Hids-direct - have any of you checked the housings after a year or so? I read on some forums about serious overheating or even melting if you install canbus bulbs. I am using these for a while now and I am a bit worried about overheating.

Last week I accidentally noticed that one of the led bulb in DRL mode starts with slight blinking after 15 minutes of driving. If I put on the main lights the blinking stops. Also if I am driving with main lights on all the time there is no blinking. The blinking starts only if I am driving in DRL mode all the time. I find this very strange and annoying. I really don`t want to spend another 17 pounds plus shipping for another pair and experience same results in the end.

Do you thing the bulb is defective or is there another problem?

Also another question. I noticed the headlights get quite warm after half an hour of driving? Like 40-50 C. Is this normal with H4 bulbs installed? I inspected the housing very carefully and there is no sign of melting or anything but I still find it strange. Been using cars with H7 bulbs in the past and haven`t noticed this problem but don`t know if this is normal with H4. Thanks.

Yep, basically the heat from the main beam bulb when used (is the main beam bulb in the DRL on the Panda like the 500) has over time started to affect the internal components within the makeup of that bulb and its LED components. This can sometimes happen over time with cheap LED units even without excess exposure to heat.

They'll need replacing, either with better quality units, or with normal bulbs (n)

It'll be a faulty bulb I suspect - I use the same design/type (although not bought through the same place) and they are excellent. Remember that they are brighter when used as DRL's in the 'D', but reduce output when the main headlights are on, be it dipped or full beam. If you bought them within the last year I'd send them back for a replacement.
 
I just received refund but only for one bulb. So I need to order one or two from another seller. Can you share the link of the store you ordered your pair?

OK, just realised that I bought them from the same folks that you used, except via eBay. Really do think you're safe to just buy a replacement (or another Pair to be honest), and take it from there.
 
Thanks. I am tempted to order a pair on ebay from China for 2 pounds per piece including shipping. I guess these European sellers just resell China stuff with 500-1000% profit.

But first I will try to swap them and observe if it flickers on the other side. If it does then the bulb is defective and will have to order another piece. If not then there is a problem with DRL electricity and will probably have to put ugly yellow regular bulbs back in.:cry:
