Hey all iv got a knocking on the aux belt on my 1.6 Doblo I took the belt off and it stopped so I’m narrowing it down to which part on the belt it is, the tensioner seems to be bouncing around a little and I was wondering if this is normal or most likely the problem, iv uploaded it to YouTube

Model
1.6
Year
2014
Mileage
101000
If there are no dodgy sections on the belt it's self then probably a new tensioner required if bearings on the way out. Have you tried with engine off levering the tensioner away from the belt to give it a spin?

Hey, thanks for replying, iv had the belt off and felt all the pulleys the tensioner doesn’t seem all that bad but it does has a bit of play in it, I might just replace it anyway and if it’s still the same I know it’s the pump or the alternator I just can’t see easy access to get it off seems like taking the air filter and engine mount off would be the best way

Just had a quick look at my 1.6 Doblo, not a lot of room with the chassis rail there also.
May end up coming from underneath with tray off and last resort the inner plastic wing bit.
Often looking at the new tensioner may give you an idea of how to maneuver it to take off.
I have changed these on Ford Fiesta diesels in the past and only had to fit the bearing which was on a "clockwise" to loosen bolt, rather than the whole tensioners.
It sounds a bit unsafe and it is, but I have put a spanner carefully on tensioners to ease the load off whilst idling to confirm if tensioner causing the problem.
I have also placed a long screwdriver as a stethoscope to transmit any bearing noise back to my ear.
However with all these "tricks" do it safely and as they say, "on your own head be it";)

It does look like th crank pulley is moving around, it could be the damper going on it.

We don't know the brand of crank pulley you fitted

Some new parts fail quickly

Don't rule it out

Update:

So I changed the crankshaft pulley/dampener whatever u call it and the knocking has gone it’s still vibrating heavily the crankshaft pulley so possibly something more sinister going on that’s causing the dampener to wear quickly

Do not run the engine for any length of time without aux belt fitted.....it knackered the crank pulley.

What brand did you use to replace pulley?

Fingers xed the new one will last longer.
If it does not get a Dayco or gates brand.
Plus let us know so we can avoid bga pulleys.

Haha I will do, the tensioner wasn’t the best either it pretty rough to spin but there isn’t any movement in it, I had to order that so will fit another day
