Hi to all,

I bought a Doblò from october 2018 with 20.000 km - the work shop recommended to change the timing belt because of the age (6 years) - they told, that it wouldn‘t be necessary to change the water pump as well.

Is this correct? Is the water pump not driven by the timing belt? What would you recommend? Changing of timing belt is 800€ - with water pump 1.100€.

It‘s a 1,6 JTD Multijet with 120 hp

Thanks for your advice 👍🏻

I'd go for the waterpump, coolant, seals etc. I'd also ask to check the thermostat and the coolant hoses at the same time.

I've once (like 30 years ago) had a car with a very low mileage. It was used on a regular basis (let's say once a week) but for very short distances. In the first year when I owned it I made more or less the same distance as the previous owner in 5 years. Most of the parts were having problems to 'get used' to a daily use. So it had lots of small problems (like alternator, starter, heating steering levers, exhaust, as far as I remember water pump, too). I know it was a different era in the automobile industry, but the cars were less complicated at the same time...

Good luck :)
