Got 2009 Fiat 500 2009 just had both Day lights replaced as wiring was burned out and the generic fault light was on but now it intermittently keeps saying check stop lights and the fault light won't go off. The tail lights are working.
Completely frustrated 😠 anyone got any idea what's happening?

Have you tried replacing the bulbs in both brake lights? Looking at it, the 500 has a twin filament bulb serving both the tail/brake lights so it’s highly possible that the filament that is for the brake light has gone, or intermittently failing (which would explain the fault). You could just get 1 bulb and try it on one side and see if it goes away, if not swap it to the other side. Also just in case you didn’t know, twin filament bulbs only fit in one way round as the pins are mounted at different heights. Apologies for the long post if you have already tried swapping both bulbs!

So on the 2009 car the brake bulb is a single 10w bulb, I'd replace both
And see from there, do the front side and day running lights now work correctly?

Front side and day lights working fine now. As are brake lights, but generic light won't turn off.

Remove both rear side light bulbs, check they are 10watts not 5w ( note my above post giving the wrong wattage for the brake lights, the link is actually the side light bulb )
With the key out turn on the side lights check all working Inc number plate lights?
