Hi Dave,

Like so many niche things, it HAS been covered on here, but I forget the detail..

With my Grande my local Shoe Repair and Key Cutter, built a basic spare key and programmed to the car
He said the Cars ECU / BCM had stored the FIAT Security CODE

Same with my 2013 Alfa 🙂

IF you take the car to FIAT, when they CODE a new key, alongside your one in the ignition,
It will "forget" others, so the factory spare in the tin at home will no longer work 😔

Ok, you obviously have MES

Does "Demo mode" show the key process..? 🤔

The easiest thing to do is fit the new barrel and get an auto locksmith to do the rest.

A shop like Timpsons can't do it without the immobilizer code from the car.

You can go to a Fiat dealership and they will find your code. And then maybe Timpsons could do it.

I know Pandanut got his code for free via email.

So the locksmith you used couldn't extract the code from the car? 🤔

That's INTERESTING,
the ones I have used never ask Me for a CODE as they extract it from the BCM

Peugeot, Alfa and FIAT 🙂

I meant Timpsons couldn't extract the code from this car. I imagined perhaps incorrectly that they wouldn't sit in this car faffing around with a PC or OBD reader because the shop might have to shut?

Yep I have done a couple of cars using MES. It explains the process well and its a simple procedure if you follow the on screen instructions. You need the cars security BCM number which Fiat provided free of charge. You can do simulation mode in MES so go though the process without connecting to the car first. I wouldn't hesitate to do more keys. I need the BCM code for the latest two Pandas and then want to get a spare plip for all 4. The big thing is to redo all they keys for each reprogramming if you forget one it may well be left out and rendered unusable, although Im not convinced of this I wouldnt want to test my scepticism on my keys. I see Amazon are selling spare remotes cheap, but havn't got around to ordering as yet. You need to do the keys in the correct order too, but its all stated clearly in MES.

Hmmm, interesting.

Did you have to go in person to a Fiat delarship and ask for the code or could you get it online?

I just run MES in simulate mode and it does look fairly straight forward if you have the code.

The instructions do beg a few questions like...can you have a mixture of old keys and new keys?

Do the keys need to be inserted and the ignition turned on?

How do the locksmiths extract the code from the car?

General concensus is..
Ring a few Dealers and get prices

The info comes from Europe, and is printed on a sheet of A4

Free, £20 and £60 have all featured before.. 😉
Desira said it used to be £60 but Fiat had ruled it was now free. I suggest ask Fiat customer services if a charge is mentioned. I reckon chsarging you for something to which you have legal title is probably unlawful!
