Hello everyone,

Has anyone else experienced the strange behaviour of getting very high values with ScanMaster-ELM software and ELM-327 v1.5 chinese interface?

I got below readings at certain moments during diagnostics:

RPM: ~15000
Coolant Temperature: 237 Celsius (sometimes -30)
Speed while parked: 223 km/h

Other times, realistic values were shown.
It's hard for me to believe that all these sensors went wrong and car still running fine.

Thanks in advance.

It's hard for me to believe it too.

There's a lot of rubbish coming out of China that doesn't work properly or consistently. There's no reason why an ELM-327 v1.5 chinese interface should be any different.

Even Hercule Poirot had problems with the Chinese:

Miss Lemon : The trouble is, Mr Poirot, they just don't understand the letters.

Hercule Poirot : Why not?

Miss Lemon : They're Chinese, Mr. Poirot.

Hercule Poirot : The Bulldog Breed laundry is Chinese?

Miss Lemon : Yes, Mr Poirot.

Hercule Poirot : What is the world coming to Miss Lemon?

Miss Lemon : I'm sure I couldn't say, Sir, but when the boy brings your laundry back, he brings the letters back too for me to explain to him.

Hercule Poirot : And you do.

Miss Lemon : No?

Hercule Poirot : Why not?

Miss Lemon : I don't speak Chinese.

Hercule Poirot : So what do you say to him?

Miss Lemon : Well, I... I say "Him collar no vely good starchy." I show him the collars and say it.

Hercule Poirot : Hastings my friend, you spent some years in China, did you not?

Captain Hastings : Oh absolutely. Fine fellows, fine fellows.

Hercule Poirot : Did you ever have any trouble with your laundry.

Captain Hastings : Yes I did as a matter of fact.

Hercule Poirot : And what did you say to them?

Captain Hastings : Well, I said "Him collar no vely good starchy."

Miss Lemon : That's where I got it from, Sir. I asked the Captain, knowing he'd been in the East.

Hercule Poirot : But Hastings, my collars they do not get any better.

Captain Hastings : No. Mine didn't either, now I come to think about it.

I cannot agree more than some of the products there are complete crap.

I planned to try this chinese cable with multiecuscan and then even register, but there appears to be issue with one 120ohm resistor in chinese ELM-327 interfaces preventing communication with CAN (i believe it's the same with every software, not just MES?).

I'll look towards buying a genuine interface that works with multiecuscan. Any recommendation for interface that ships within Europe at a lower rate than half of the interface itself?

Would a genuine interface cable still require adapter cables like the yellow one?

Thanks!

I decided to standby until I get a yellow adapter and test it with my current chineese copy of ELM327.

While running a test with MES, below is the output I received:

I still have a bit of hope that this interface might work with the yellow adapter, after measuring the resistance between pins CAN Bus High and Low and not getting anything near 120ohms.

Besides, ScanMaster-ELM showed attached output in testing the interface connection.

If I am to fail with the yellow adapter too and need an original ELM-327 like interface, I may choose the guys at https://electronic-fuchs.de/ , this is the best offer (shipping included) for my country, somewhere around 52 Euros.

Will keep this thread updated in case it helps anyone.
