General HELP !!!

Aye so have I but it was bought on ebay and yer man bid on it and won this wasn't an impulse buy in a car showroom.

Anyway we all make mistakes so hopefully the OP can get out of the hole he's in and move on.
did you read my first post ? re the wording of the ebay advert , Sadly for me I tend to use trust to much and yes I trusted the seller , My big mistake
I now either have to stump up about £3K for a recon engine and hope the needed original parts are usable and then pay the garage whatever they ask for £1K maybe £2K . Or scrap it , The stress is doing my head in.

Not after any finders fee, had a quick search on eBay and all I can find is a non turbo car which is mot ed and running so you could road test etc. It is up to you to check if engine serial numbers etc tally with what you want and to it's general suitability. Also it's power output compared with your turbo version. There really doesn't seem to be much about. I don't know if feasible to put your turbo manifold etc. injector pump on donor engine. May be a lot of work.:(

Thanks for looking , I think the compression ratios on a turbo / non turbo are different .

Aye I read it, look we've all been done at some point, the only thing you can do now is get out of the hole that you're in so you either pony up another £10k or get rid of it.

Plus no one held a gun to your head to buy a 25 year motor home that hadn't been used for six years I mean you say you've been in the motor trade for 50 years so you're not exactly wet behind the years.

Not sure I appreciate your negative comments so please do not post any more , I am p-ssed of enough as it is.

Just had a thought, some years ago I had an 03 Fiat Doblo 1.9 that used a Lucas Epic fuel injector pump, it was bought cheap due to non running etc.
The point being it used it's "Epic" injector pump to draw the fuel from the tank so there was no manual or electrical method to move fuel to the injector pump apart from vacuum created by the pump. In desperation I mounted a can on the wing and allowed the injector pump to suck that directly and the engine then started. Hooray, success, note I bought for £300 from a garage as they had failed to find the problem.:)
I traced the problem to an air leak at the plastic fuel pipe connector on the fuel tank/sender unit.
So if you can find no method of drawing the fuel to the injector pump it may be worth checking that side as a test.
I can8

The Citroen BX with this engine had the button on the top of the filter. You knew it was good if itwent hard after 3 orso pushes. The grey rubber bellow prime on this in one of the pics above is not of a type ive seen before. I wouldnt trust it an inch. The BX relied on the diesel pump to suck fuel from the tank as you describe. The primer was vital. Peugeot 406 had an in line bulb that was great but vulnerable to long term perishing and air leaks. Any air leak on the fuel supply line will stop starting or make running bad. I had my share of trouble for a while. I would consider a known good filter head of another design. I would also rig a fuel supply with gravity on its side and try that as you suggest. Reverse blow the fuel lines back to the tank. Drain the tank and start with clean fuel. I think.my issue was the filter head sucking air. Its a very long time back though.

But But , The seller said it would be a easy fix
Sadly it was for him.:(
Looking at the photos even if you had a good cylinder head and new pistons etc. The damage to the cylinder block where the loose swirl chamber has worn the block would need skimming flat and then the piston height even with thicker gasket if available would probably be too close to cylinder head.
I have rebuilt Direct Injection diesel engines with the indents in the head and piston where broken valves have marked them and have recovered with maybe one conrod and a set of piston rings in a honed bore for it to run well, but the swirl chamber marks in block will be a problem for most engineers.:(

Update on this mess, The one and only person / Place that offered help has had the van for 3 weeks now and said " You should have it back next week "
He / they are fitting a rebuilt engine , New gasket set / Timing belt kit / bearings and maybe a clutch if it looks worn plus swapping the good bits , Rebuilt turbo and injectors , I just hope it all comes together , It will come with a 12 month or 12,000 guarantee, but and a big BUT a cost of around £4000 , Gulp . It is a Peugeot engine , I just hope it passes its MOT with no big issues. I was told I will get a video of the engine running before it is fitted .
