Technical Help with stereo fitting (Punto, Active Sport, 2004)

ok, sorry im such a noob it's unbelieveable, so here is a picture of the adapter
photo1-1.jpg

i divided it in two like i think you suggested,

and this is the back of the head set,

i already have the arial adapter, but i was just wondering what end it goes into, and that black tube looking thing is kinda funny looking so im not sure.

see my picture
and only my picture
look into my eyes:D
join yellow and red as i said
leave black wire
cut all others and cover with tape so they cant short on anything
the plug i posted up earlier slides into the long black snackie thing but put the fiat aerial lead into it first

also remember that unless you can take the face off the stereo everytime you leave the car you will flatten the battery within 2 days
its just how these fiats are and all modern cars too, but some are worse, a lot worse
leave the original fiat loom and then when you come to sell the car ask on here for the code for your bluepoint stereo and you will get it for a £2 donation.........bargain:)

ummm ok, join the yellow and red on where?
the back of the head unit or the adapter loose piece? and then i remove all the other wires?????? why don't i just join the yellow and red and just leave the rest?
sorry i just get easily confused
where can i get the code from now? i dont mind donating now

and i just realised something! my first punto from about three years back always gave me trouble starting sometimes, and i ended up changing the starter! and it was still faulty! so now i recon you've helped solve that mystry! it was this system too, but im sure i took off the face when it wasn't in use. hmmm.

and i just saw your edit to the picture! sorry, so i'm just connecting the yellow and red, and keeping the black, and removing all other wires! right, what happens if i just attach the red and yellow, cut the other half off, and left the rest, including the black one?

ok s and b, i think i followed your intructions, but still no luck! this is what i did to the wires
photo5-2.jpg

the i plugged it in like this
photo2-3.jpg

leaving only the black wire as you suggested!
and still no power, so what have i done wrong??? i even swapped the red and yellow so just to make sure. but still nothing!
now i feel like a proper noob, as this means ive prob kinda ruined the lead, but its replaceable.

i then went onto to connect the yellow and red on the back of the head unit just to make sure, but still no luck! can some one please help! i feel like im about to give it and just go to halfords again and pay 40 plus for a fitting! (as i didn't but it from there recently) for a stereo that cost under 100! ahhhhhh

What I think s and b meant was unplug the red and yellow connectors i have arrowed and connect them together. This is what I did when I was fitting an aftermarket stereo into the last car. Just wait for a someone to agree first before you try it though

Yes Raul that would be great, thanks. The only other option I can think of now is getting some one or finding out how to run that live feed from my cigerette lighter, but that involves taking out the centre console I think and I don't think I can bother with all that hassle, or end up paying 50 for some one at halfords to do it again, as I didn't buy my unit from there so I won't get the half price fitting :-s thought I did buy it from there about 3 years ago. Haha

And yea supras are the sh!t! TGot a nice collection going and on my second pair of vaiders! Lol thought a little pricey I think, depending on where u buy them from.

Right, I've fitted my stereo today.
Also had trouble with the fascia as it wouldnt clip into place because the clip points wouldn't reach that far so I slightly cut the console holes a bit so they would reach and the fascia sits perfectly now.

As much as for the wires, ive marked with green arrow, this is where the antenna goes, probably will need an adapter thingy that s and b mentioned. I got mine from halfords for like 4 quid though.

The wires, ive marked red and yellow (by arrows) coming OUT of the stereo and connecting to just the yellow going IN

man i feel so stupid, i still dont get it, here's a better picture to illustrate on.
how did you manage to do it though? on your own, or with assistance?
i have the radio adapter so that's ok, i have everything i need really, just want the live feed.

EDIT: ok wait i think i get it, so i need to run the top half of the red, to the whole yellow?

All you need to do is remove the adapter lead you bought. Connect both yellow wires together. Run the red wire down behind the center console to the fag lighter. Use a scotch lock snap it onto one of the wires. Job done.

P.S dont use Halfrouds! for audio. Thye dont have a clue about anything really. I worked there for 2 months and left was sick of the company.

The red wire connects to the yellow wire as indicated by my awesome MS paint skills. The other half of the red one is not needed (crossed out)

Brad G, I know the better way would be to run the wire to the lighter but wouldn't that mean taking off the console?

Yeh its alot easier + will switch the stearo off when you turn off the ignition. There are two Allen key screws under the ash tray. 2 other Allen key screws each side of the console. Pull off the gator surrounding the gear stick. Remove 2 Philip heads and down at the side. Done and the center console will pull forward

ok!!! success mate! went out and did it now a swell! lol
so all is working as fine as can be!
so now that it has a constant live feed, and even if i remember to switch off the system, would it still flatten the battery?? or do i need to completely move the face off so the battery wouldn't go flat?? or does it go flat no matter what if not used for about two days??
just want to say again guys thanks alot for the help!!!

ah dammit! well i got break down cover! i've come all this way, not gonna turn back now.
you think or know any one that can show me a dummy guide to running the feed from the lighter? a video or picture tutorial would help! and it would proably help a lot others on this forums.thanks again.
