Panda (Classic) Grumbleweed

Introduction

been stubbornly refusing to stir outside the panda section for a long while but put a fair bit of time into tidying the old lad up this summer so thought I'd stick some photos together to show the state of play just now.
So for those of you who aren't al ready au fait, this is Grumbleweed, a 1990 Panda Sergio Tacchini with a mix of scrapyard warrior mods and fresh bits:

look! even found some scenery to take some pics:)

Highlights include the new mk2 golf splitter and chavtastic blue lensed driving lamps (they were reduced OK) in the front bumper, Momo steering wheel, aftermarket gearknob on shortened gearstick, 40mm drop on new standard shocks, mystery retro pepperpot wheels (anybody any idea? came off a Tipo in a scrappy) converted to Uno electronic dizzy, K&N panel filter in standard airbox with shortened intake, Powerflow stainless exhaust rear section with Y10 standard front section, array of extra instrumentation (tacho, oil pressure and volts) and assorted other bits and bobs dotted around that my father in law (the previous owner) fitted and I just find out about when new stuff I buy mysteriously doesn't fit:confused:
Andrew.
good lord. what 'ya doing man?

bit more easy to do on a 2wd. >_<
Getting engine bay envy with all these super tidy cars about now so been looking at my leggy slightly noisy quarter million mile Y10 box on the car vs the 30 odd thousand mile Panda box I've got in the garage with shorter gearing and decided to swap 'em. Just waiting for my ebay clutch to turn up and a core plug as the one behind the flywheel looks to be weeping a bit so poor old Grumbleweed's gonna be on stands for about a week!

So, that's a week to clean and paint all the bits I usually can't get to..

To be honest I'm probably not planning to paint the 'box, just getting it in clean and trying to keep it that way. The old one was painted black when it went in and looks terrible now with all the paint flaking away. (mind you, that was 15 years ago)
Core plug's here, bushes for the linkage and I missed a parcel today so either clutch or oil (using a Millers GL4 for all you gearbox oil controversy buffs) so nearly ready to go but no chance to do it now 'till next Thursday.
Slightly off topic but sort of redesigned the rear quarter panel of my neighbours 500 Monday night reversing off the drive. Insurance headache here I come:(

so, tonight I have mostly been entertaining myself painting the metal bodies of my screenwash pumps green... Day off tomorrow finally though so I might just have the gearbox back in soon!

So having found my phone with the pictures on, here's the finished interior for those that weren't at the meet last week:

Pretty pleased with it:) still got to do something about the holes where the seat back adjustment isn't but overall.. happy.

now if i had a hole in a seat like that i would make up a red handle with EJECT wrote on it in white.

OTT?

I can supply a Yellow stripey handle and sticker saying "DANGER DO NOT PULL HANDLE" from a BAE Hawk Ejector seat?

Would fit quite nicely :p Along with a small round sticker to cover the rough edges?

Just read through your thread! Seen this car a couple of times and I love it! Oh to have the space for a second car!! :(

Tom

Well, he's back together and looking good, now if I could just stop the gearbox oil leaking out he'd be good to go(y)..oh and the coolant....and the petrol of course. But APART from that, ready to roll:D(y)Maybe the petrol will wash the oil off the drive eh.
