Hmmmm, it's very close. The doors are bigger than the boot opening, but if I angle them I could maybe get 1 door in.

What you need is a five-door Mk2 Punto -- it's as if the boot (with the seats down, of course) was designed to take Panda doors: they fit with about two inches to spare in each direction... -- very cosy (even with a set of 127 alloys underneath...). :D

Have we seen this before...? :D

As some of you know, Jasper my mk1 Panda was selected by one of Hagerty's staff (at the Chiltern Hills Show)to go to their Concours de L'ordinaire yesterday. Sadly their staff didn't understand their own age criteria and the Panda was a year too new - as it was close I entered the Strada instead.

Annoyingly there were newer cars there, so the Panda should really have been let in - clearly it would have won, so maybe we were knobbled! Anyway as I'm talking to myself over in the Strada section, and this almost involved Panda's (so we're on topic!) I thought you'd like some pics.......... (y)

This was actually a very good event. Some nice cars there, and some stuff which doesn't usually get a look in! Too many brown and eurgh coloured Allegros & other BL rubbish of course, but hopefully they will make sure all the cars are different next year.

The Strada went down very well with the judges and the public & got an honourable mention when the prizes were given out. I'm actually quite pleased it didn't win first or second prizes (the public vote predictably went to a mk3 Cortina), which went to a fully restored Nissan Cherry turbo & Austin Maxi respectively - Strada's shouldn't win an unexceptional concours, coz they're not!!

Some pics below. I'm hoping scout will have done better ones.

The entirely uninspiring Metro was Princess Diana's bought by Prince Charles as a gift. Not exactly a no expense spared gift..... Annoyingly it was trailered down from Coventry Transport Museum & even had to be push started to get back on the trailer - it should have been driven IMO!

General pics:

Car of the show

Shocked to see a 127!!!

Lovely Alfa

A "special" arrangement of BL stuff, with the "wonderful" Metro & a nice Capri.

I'd rather have the BL tat than that Capri. The MK1 Capri was great looking car but the MK2 with minimal changes just looks rank somehow. A camp frumpy 2 door Cortina. Your Strada looks great (y)

Thanks. :worship:

There were quite a few cars I'd have happily driven away in (as well as mine!). There was a nice Maestro & a horribly nice Montego - still tat though! ;) Top of my list would have been an Opel Manta, Skoda convertible, and the Alfa. Plus I'd have had to take the 127, a very nice Imp, the Cortina & Capri, and a rusty R30. Probably a Maxi & the Cherry too.......

This is why I have a problem with space you see - I wouldn't have had the Allegro's though (well maybe one.....). :bang:

I have to admit that Maestros are my BL kryptonite. They are a wilfully beige.

I badly need a Hillman Imp in my life :(
