How dare you, Mk3's are the bestest. :p

...........

Herbie hasn't been driven in a week, just went to drop him off at the garage and he didn't miss a beat.

Well, until I pulled up at the garage and then he went bananas. (n)

Gavin has just picked up some panda inj bits including a ecu. He maybe able to help once you know what's up.

Yep - anything injection is the work of the Devil so doesn't apply to my Panda's (apart from Panto, but that's a genetically modified Panda/Punto/Alfa/Lancia hybrid & therefore doesn't count!). I know the ECU is the silver box - anything else would need to be described in short words of one syllable so I know what to look for! (y)

I dropped him off before work and they don't have a letter box, so it was a case of leave the passenger door open and leave the keys under the drivers mat.

So I ring them up to explain the treasure hunt and the issues. "Ok, we'll plug it in and see what happens."

No idea what he's gonna plug it into. :D

What a waste. So many salvageable parts on that!

Wee Smurf it's Dez's sister! :(

I'll agree with you on that. Total waste - so many parts could have been reused...

And that would have only been just around 8 and a half years old now. Same dealer that I bought mine...

BTW it looked like the scrappy on the road above me. Mind you, I haven't been there since the Polo went...

When the 'Scrappage' scheme was running a friend of mine traded her VW Polo with only 38K on the clock. for the last week she was driving round to people's houses so they could have bits off her car.
I took all the speakers and radio..(y)

She will kick herself in a few years when the polo is still working fine and the car she bought doesn't

It won't be driving around as it HAD to be scrapped under that scheme, no point having it otherwise. The whole idea was to get old cars off the road. (But I agree with your sentiment)

What a waste of a car, government should be ashamed

They were trying to kick start the economy as a car could only be in the scrappage scheme if it was being replaced by a new one.
That's why Hyundai have got ideas above their station and upped their prices. They sold so many i10's and 120's that they thought people liked their cars rather than people were trading in sheds and buying £6000 cars for £2k-£3k. My sister in law got a basic i10 for £2000 and a hardly running shed of a fiesta because the government put in £2k and Hyundai put in £2k

Yes exactly.

The big problem was that rare cars got scrapped and couldn't be saved. There was a mint Panda 4x4 which got completely stripped for parts (n) There were also Minor Traveller's, Triumph Stags & Dolly Sprints, and even the odd Rolls Royce - those are just the ones I recall hitting the news! They should have insisted that A car was scrapped, not necessarily the one traded in - or how about forcing the dealer to scrap 3 others if they want to rescue one - that would satisfy their (extremely dubious) green rantings about taking inefficient cars off the road!
