Hi all, know it's been mentioned before, any thoughts on slip additive to help 5th gear, mine does not jump out of gear, but occasionally complains when engaging, don't want it to get any worse. It has done 41K

The fifth gear on that box and its successor on the x244 model, rely on drip feed lubrication. I try to follow the advice not to use the fifth gear for at least the first mile, when the vehicle has been standing for longer than overnight.

Would you recommend oil change and top up to higher level as seems the norm

I have read of that been done, upto about 3 litres on refilling. I have not read of any contrary reports.
Changing the oil, should help get rid of any debris.

Will sort that when I return home, also had contradictory info on which oil to use
