Technical Gearbox model number

Hi. I have a 2005, JTD11, 2.0L, non ABS, with 4th gear missing.

In France the Fiat main dealer costs are so high the repair quote is more than the van is worth so I'm searching for a breaker replacement. I have found a lot!

But, only to find that there are so many different gearbox model numbers.

Where Do I find my gearbox model number please?

Does anyone know the gearbox range and If I can fit a different model to my Ducato?

Example: 20LE19 this appears to be from a 2.5D but no year.
Also have 20KM36 from a 2.5D
This one, 20KE08 from a 1.9D

And then of course being in France, the Boxer and Jumper vans may use different numbers so I well and truly B@@gg@@red

Can i fit a 2.5 gearbox to my 2.0L?

And all the other questions that go through the mind.

I do see a repair kit on eBay UK at a cost of £159.00 but I'm no gearbox specialist and is it a straight forward job I could get my local friendly mechanic to do?

Any help and advice is welcome.

The 2.0 is a psa engine DW10 the bellhousing will be different to the other engines. You may be able to use your bell housing with the guts of a 2.3 2.2 2.8. The 2.8 NA would have similar ratios I think you can check all the parts in eper.

If its 5th gear there is no need to remove gearbox ,just get local garage to repair with repair kit but if its 4th gear gear and you need to change bellhousings this only for advanced mechanic, PS nobody can work out codes on fiat gearboxes they just picked a number from a hat and stamped it on!

The code number is stamped on casing under the drives shafts output you need to jack it van up or use mirror

+1 MG, ML, MGLU and I think BVM are the family codes for the early van that's what the parts suppliers ask for

Hi robin123.

Sad to say it is 4th that will not select. I can go from 3rd to 5th. Sometimes cleanly, other times it will graunch.
