Thank you, replaced the battery as the garage hadn't put a stop start battery on it when it was replaced 3 years ago. I now know you have to 'learn ' the battery so hopefully that may solve it

Sometimes the ecu system has to go through a number of cycles before it registers a new component as "sound" -however flashing mileage is most often related to a faulty blue and me unit! most of the time a proxy alignment will reset it fine! .
However if you are getting(or dont want to risk )a parasitic drain on your battery then its best to physically disconnect the unit by un-plugging the electrical connector!
Flashing mileage means no communication with something on the CAN system. Not automatically Blue & Me. Although RHD vehicles seem to suffer a lot more due to the place of the unit.
But before doing a lot of work I'd use MES to make sure where the problem is.
