On my way home today, the mileage on my car was flashing. I pulled over thinking it was some kind of service indicator and turned off the engine. When i turned it on again, it wasn't flashing. Anyone else had this? Not able to read my manual till the weekend. Bit worried. Cheers everyone.

Have you chcked your anti virus software and fire wall is up to date? I recomend Ferrari ECU Anti Virus version 2010 it works very well with FIATs;)

In all serious though I have read the manual back to front and isn't anything in it about flashing milleage display. Google may give you an answer.

or the CAN modules need bringing into sinc with a Proxy alignment at the dealership

Flashing mileage is an indicaton that the CANBUS systemhas either not found all of the nodes, or that its found a newly added one that wasn't programmed into the CANBUS at factory.

Has happened to my Stilo once or twice now. Is normally just a blip, solved buy turning ignition off and then back on.

If it happens more frequently though, you'll need to take it to the dealer for a proxy alignment (y)

I've had this once in my 100hp, on mk2 puntos you get this when the clocks mileage doesn't match the body ecu mileage (to prevent clocking the car easily) -just a quick on/off of the ignition should sort if you haven't had the clocks out. otherwise need to goto dealership and get them to sort..

My 100hp did this the other day when I started it very quickly....ie key straight in and straight to Start....

Pulled over, turned it off, started it again and it was back to normal...

I did notice it was flashing exactly in time to the second counter.... :D

have you recently changed your car stereo.
the canbus system might not be compatible.
do you also have blue and me on the original stereo?

Bad Panpan, I assumed it was service related. But, ignition on and off fixed it.

As mentioned before in this (old) thread, if it recurrs you need a "proxi aliginment" of the CAN bus. This does not HAVE to be done by a dealer. Multiecuscan and an ELM interface will do it and probably cost less (£50 total) than the dealer would charge.
