First car & funny story

"My" first car is the current one.

First day I passed my test someone hit me from behind. Scarey experience for first day of driving, but a good learning one.

First car was Ford Escort Harrier J Reg, never made the road as it needed a clutch and I couldn't be bothered!

Swopped for Nissan Slyvia 1.8T C plate, insurance was quoted at £1600 so never insured it but drove it for a couple of months, fast compared to little learner corsa's!

Swopped for Ford Orion D reg'd, total shed but cheap and could beat my pals 1.4 orion cos mine was a 1.6!

Orion was scrapped and didn't have a car for long and weary, just call me the bus master!

Eventually got my dad to let me on the insurance for his Rover 620i honda power 131bhp! Pretty rapid and received extreme punishemnt from me but was extremely reliable and I enjoyed the comfy cruising for a year until my dad broke my ICE in it and I told him to shove it!

Needed to get a car of my own and along came the Cinq! That's 2 years ago and the Cinq is ace!

One day I will have a reason to buy a dump valve!

My first car was also a mini 850, only had it a yr and it fell apart B) i took it for an MOT and it only PASSED on 8 things, including water in the washer bottle and the wipers worked [xx(]i told them i was gonna drive it till the tax ran out :p

My funny story, Kev and I were out in the car one night and we had come up behind a double decker bus and there was a motor bike infront of us, as we were slowing down (cos the bus was stopped) the rider was so busy watching us he ran into the back of the bus :p:p.

Black Seicento SX, washed it everyday nearly!

I remember getting about 90 from it down a hill, and braking sharply the back end went sooo light and skipped out slightly! Never driven fast since!

Black Cinq Sporting, still driving it now :D

About a month ago I beat a guy in his drop top Merc kompressor at the lights twice in a row and he wasn't amused but his missus was pissing herself, when we got to the 3rd set of lights I was determined to have him if it meant redlining it all the way and same as before just got ahead as the 2 lanes merged into 1 doing 30 in 1st ;) This must have been too much for him as he swung into the opposite lane to overtake me uphill but I was doing 70 so it took him longer than he expected but as he was going past a cop car came over the hill he just got infront of me as the cops went past and about 30 seconds later they came screaming past me and pulled the merc driver. I couldn't stop laughing as I drove home safe and sound :D

Black '95 Cinquecento Sporting: K&N, Eon2's, Abarth style spoiler with brake light, Sony MD Head unit, Sony 6x9s, Kenwood 10cm & a stupidly loud 12" Pioneer Sub where spare wheel should be ;-)

VW Beetle 'H' regd 1970. Was a black one (hand painted, you could see the brush marks!)
On our way from Nuneaton one night, it was 22:10, and in those days the pubs shut at half 10. Had to drop a mate off at Twycross and head back through the lanes to get back to my local at the time. I put the hammer down and was doing around 70 when a cow stuck it's head out of a hedge! Smack, I hit it. Carried on to the pub, got out expecting to see a mess, but all what was on it was a long line of grass and slobber!
Still makes me laugh when I tell it! Had fur on the inside of the roof too, it caught fire when a mate yawned and stretched with a fag on!

Oi oi! :D:D:D:D

Monkey trousers!

In 1989, was given an 'E' Reg Peugeot 205 Junior, in white - just passed my test as well; only a 954cc engine!!

My did I thrash the nuts off it - even crashed it into a lamp-post one icy evening coming back from a gf house, oops [V] - lamp-post hit bang slap in middle of bonnet, bonnet flew up, bumper disintegrated, etc, engine pushed back a bit. Still managed to get it on my driveway about 50 yards away, then burst into tears, lol.

How in the world does anybody think they can beat a Mercedes Turbo in a 1.1 cinq?! Please tell me you were joking....

My uno (which isn't much slower than the Cinq sporting!) can't beat the average family car driven averagely with me trying pretty hard! lol. Not much of a race if the other guy isn't bothering!

The only thing the Cinq [in standard format I hasten to add] will have on him will be during the first few seconds off from the standing start! A lot of saloon cars do take time, even my Mondeo when I boot it - but once you start redlining it, leaves most small engined cars for dust!

I still enjoy playing with the Ulysse off the lights - people don't really expect it :D

The sporting does in the 13's I believe for 0-60 and mine in the 14's, so that's why most cars will eat them for as you say, more than a few metres! But in this case we're talking about a turboed Merc with a 0-60 likely to be around 7 or so seconds...i.e. cinq changes out of 1st as the car is already at 70...! They're in a different league (as standard, I am sure Pete's and the others with 1.2 turbos in their cars could give a lot more cars a run for their money...)! 99% of cinq owners accept this, but a few don't! The only way to out run something like that is like Alex did, cross your fingers they will stall!

What 0-60 do you get out of yours now Stu, or don't you know?

Ah, but you ought to look at the 0-20 times, which is why some small cars always get the jump.

The Fiat now does it at around 9 secs - still want to get it on a dyno though, for proper readings.
