Hi guys,
HTML:
I am hoping you can help me. My ex wifes car goes into limp mode, engine management light on and her incar display shows:

  • Depollution system faulty
  • Direction Indicator(s) faulty

VIN: ZFA27000064099444

Using my MaxiDiag FR704 reader, it has come up with the following error codes:

P0472 perm:

Differential exhaust pressure signal. Open circuit or short circuit to earth.

P0495 perm:

Engine cooling funtion integrated into the engine control unit. Coherence.

P1457 perm:

Particle filter. Particle emmission filter absent.

PO299 perm:

Turbo pressure regulation. Turbo pressure measured too low.

P0470 intmt:

Differential exhaust pressure signal. Coherence on starting.

P0490 perm:

Egr valve circuit. Not enough egr, egr valve too clased in relation to the reference value.

U1118 perm:

Please refer to vehicle service manual.

P1693 perm:

Controlled engine starting and switch-off fault, Starting or stwitch-off requests not valid or absent.

U2001 perm:

Please refer to vehicle service manual

After clearing the fault codes, the following codes would stay: U2001, P1693, U1118 & P0473. All the other codes would return after the vehicle had been used.

Your help in sorting this out is certainly appreciated. I am no qualified mechanic.

Assuming no electrical connection errors causing the problem. A few thoughts.
1. I had a friend who worked for many years at a Fiat Motorhome dealers and especially on the Ducatos they had a run of faulty DPF pressure sensors.
2.Why is the codes saying DPF absent etc. ? Has it been removed, is it still physically on the vehicle and connected?
3. Does the vehicle mainly get used for short journeys/stop start etc?
4. If above is vehicle trying to do a REGEN but so badly clogged it cannot do anything.
5. If above is there noticable choking white smoke, which is another sign.
6. You obviously get on with your ex wives better than me, after what they cost me I wouldn't be running to help them with their vehicles.;)

Thank you for your reply...

1. Interesting.
2. Not sure, where exactly is it located?
3. Yes, but she does do long journeys too, and has yried giving it a blow out on the motorway. Hard when it is in limp mode and 0 - 30mph in three weeks, lol.
4. Saw on Youtube for a different vehicle (I think it was a Dublo)... that a reset was done by having the ignition off, foot on brake and on accelerator, hold both down and turn ignition on, wait for light to flash, start the car up ()
5. No signs of that. (But then, the 'Oil OK' message shows on start up, when the oil level was barley touching the bottom of the dipstick).
6. We get on better now, than when we were married. She's someone elses problem now, lol.

1. Yes.
2.Should look something like this below if a 2.0 litre , I am guessing as I have a 2010 2.0 Scudo with the 270 prefix in vin. no. DPF is usually the first "silencer" type object after the exhaust manifold and has two pipes , one before and one after to measure pressure differential to show any blockage.
3.Modern diesels hate town work due to their "environmental technology" as DPF never gets hot enough to properly self clean. One of my daughters has a 1.6 Golf diesel and only drives a short distance to work, something her previous VW Tiguan 2.0 pre DPF had no problem with. Her car goes into "limp mode" unless regular additive DPF cleaner is used every other tank full, plus a good blast up the dual carriageway, which is a problem as she is not a boy racer. Last time it happened I had to drive over 30 miles at 70mph in 4th gear (5 speed) after using additive to clear it.
4. There are several claimed ways to trigger DPF Regen on different makes, best is probably using suitable diagnostic equipment.
5.OK
6. Since both cost me half of the property I had paid for, not them, I don't feel inclined to do much in that direction after working full time for over 50 years and still owe money on my home! at 71:(
