Hey, might be a basic question. Currently looking into buying a Fiat Scudo 2013 2.0 130 Multijet as my first car which I plan on turning into a mini camper. Wondering if you have any advice on whether it’s a good choice for a first time car buyer in terms of up keep, maintenance costs, what the most common issues are, what to look out for in the test drive, etc?

Any advice is much appreciated :)

Thanks

Antonin

I had a 2010 LWB Scudo 8 seater 2.0 litre 120hp, I think you will find it is basically a 16 valve Peugeot RHR or later engine.
Cambelt change is advisable, a known fault is the cam lobes are pressed onto the shaft and can slip amongst other faults.
I fitted new heater plugs which was a right sod of a job up against the bulkhead and involved removing EGR cooler etc. A endoscopy camera was a help.:) The tail gate was only an electrical switch (no mechanical override, I replaced the switch after testing continuity, but in the end I had to replace the electrical lock, pattern parts were cheap enough after I had encourage the tailgate to open so I could fit them.
Apart from that it drove well and Taxi drivers used to use them achieving 2-500 k miles with regular maintenance which is usually a good sign.:)
One other point many on Forum use MES for their diagnostics, I had to buy MaxiEcu scan tool as Peugeot engine not recognised.
