My 2010 campervan has the usual judder from the transmission, so I am considering having the clutch replaced, but with a solid flywheel kit, instead of the current DMF type.
Does anyone know if this will cure the clutch judder? The van has done 132000 miles, and otherwise drives without fault.
I would be having the work carried out in Spain, as labour costs, (and parts too) are much less, and the exchange rate makes it quite an attractive option.
Look forward to your input.

Hi. As a modest hijacking of your question do you mean the judder when in reverse? There are threads here on that but none all that clear on what the proper fix is. We have converted a minibus combination variant into a camper 120 x250 so much same drive as yours. The garage put a new clutch in as part of the sale to us it had 130k . Now has about 136k and drives really well. It has no weight in it and judders in reverse so you must slip the clutch and rev.

The clutch judder is, as you say, most noticeable when reversing, or when moving off in first gear. I find that moving off in second gear helps reduce the judder, but reversing is a matter of either revving and slipping the clutch, or releasing the pedal as soon as possible, and reversing at tickover without slipping the clutch! Not ideal, but that is why I am considering the solid flywheel conversion. The garage assures me that it will cure the problem, but I would like to be more confident before spending a few hundred pounds on it!

I don't think you will cure the reverse judder,
As for drive judder I would assume yes needs a new clutch

As far as I'm aware, 2.3 (Iveco engine) is a solid flywheel, the 2.2 Peugeot/ford engine has the DMF

One thing for sure on the 2.3 solid flywheel is you'll require a new hydraulic slave cylinder kit as that's where the release bearing is, it doesn't come in the kit

My 2.3 JTD clutch release bearing began to leak brake fluid out. Although the car has been driven only 30000 km. I strongly recommend that the release bearing and clutch replaced at the same time. The clutch work cylinder and the pressure bearing is inteegrated. It is one part and design is poor.
