Hello from South Yorkshire. I am new on here and also not a mechanic so looking for possible solutions to pass on to the garage where I am taking the motorhome on Tuesday (August 13).

Back in March, the Swift Motorhome (Sundance) stalled and would not start and the AA could start it so was trucked to the garage I go to. They said some value was the issue and put a blanking plate in. It worked after but soon after an issue cropped up where it would not start reving straight away. I had to run it for ten minutes or longer. Two weeks ago I did a trip and had the same issues but lived with them as once the engine was hot, I could turn it off and back on again and it was fine. Then four days ago, I ran it for half an hour and still it won't rev above 1,000 rpm. I press the accelerator and the exhaust smokes (light coloured smoke) but the revs don't go above 1,000. No amount of pressing the throttle makes a difference. The rev needle moves up when I press I the throttle but only a little. So it can't be driven.

Will try it again tomorrow and if it won't work, will called the AA and worse case scenario, put it on a truck to the garage. Its been fine for six years but this year has not been working reliably.

Am guessing this happens to others and hoping a solution can be found so its reliable again.

thank you

Problem fixed. Throttle body unit had to be replaced as the flap in it for air intake was broken... Cost 700 quid so not a cheap problem to fix but runs fine now.
