Hi Guys!
Greetings from South Africa.
A couple of weeks back I purchased a 2015 FIAT 500X (1,4 turbo multi-air). Car has 170xxx kms and partial service history.
Based on the lack of recent service history I opted for a full service:
-Oil change, spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter
-Coolant flush
-Cam belt, water pump, thermostat
-idler pulley and v belt
-front brake rotors and pads
-rear brake pads
-Brake fluid change/flush
-rear wheel hubs (bearings were noisy)
-Main engine mount and torque mount (rubbers were perished)
-front stabiliser link arms
-DRL bulb holders (had the DRL and park light errors - got the solution from this forum!)
The above was done by our mechanic which we have used for the past couple of years.
After the above was done I drove the car for a 30 km trip. This was the longest distance I drove the car since buying it as I wanted to get the servicing done before driving the car over a long distance. During this drive, the CEL, drive mode unavailable and stop start unavailable. Whats strange is that the car is driving normal even with these error messages. There is no misfire or lack of power. Car actually feels better than when I first drove it before all the items were replaced as above.
My mechanic scanned it and while there are a couple of codes on the BCM, HVAC etc the ECM codes are P0236-00 and U0168-00. There is also ESL codes U1930-86 and U1932-86.
Checking the forum as I believe the P0236 code is causing the error messages and CEL above?
The solutions based on the forum is:
1) Loose turbo wastegate actuator arm - my mechanic will make the adjustment an revert (service history shows that the turbo was replaced under warranty at the FIAT dealership at 80xxx km in 2018)
2) Another member posted and said the P0236 code is due to a faulty MAP sensor (which I will replace anyway to see if that resolves the issues above)
3) I read up on the forum that a faulty thermostat could also be causing this error? I replaced my thermostat with a new aftermarket unit - could this also be the problem?
I think I will do items 1 and 2 above and see if that solves it and then potentially put the old thermostat back (which is OEM) if the first 2 solutions dont work.
Is there anything else that you would suggest we do or check?
I have attached the full diagnostics report.
Thanks for the help in advance.
