General Factory Delivery Times

I ordered my 1.4 T-jet Sport 150 a couple of weeks ago and within 1 week the status code on Fiats system was showing 016 which means no changes can be made to the order. I assume this efectively means the car has entered production as my salesman said it is very unusual for this code to change from 000 within the first couple of weeks.

What I would like to know is what other peoples experience of ordering from the factory is and what the time between it going to code 16 and delivery was for them. I have been given a due date of late December/ Early Jan as they always quote their maximum delivery time , and I am not expecting it earlier than this but it would be nice to be surprised before christmas.

Haven't you heard about the world economic crisis (with Italy being one of the most affected EU countries) and the fact that car factories are experiencing huge losses? Nobody buys a car at the moment, hence the reduced production time...

So are you saying I should get it quicker then? I know about the current climate, that is why I bought one now because I got about 3 and a half grand knocked off. But because of the current eco climate they have layed loads of workers off and are running short shifts so I just wanted an opinion on wether it is likely to be in the current build run or waiting to be started from someone who has watched their own car go through the production cycle.
Personally speaking I have more disposable cash at the moment than I have had for many years so I LIKE credit crunches.

What the hell are you on about?

Some people hate the feel of leather seats.

Some people, myself included, hate the dome. In fact i think it makes the car look like it has a reclining hair-line, its all down to personal taste.

Definetly no need to be like that.

I don't know how they work exactly, but for sure they make less cars. The dealers here also have reduced times, so chances are you are getting your car soon

And don't get mad at the forum. People are very nice and you will get used to Tad pretty quickly

i did that, saved about £6500 which we are going to pay off the mortgage!

Haha, typical Tad!! don't worry about what tad saids, he is very helpful "sometimes", it is good to have different opinions, right?
Anyway, from ordered to get my cars it took 6 weeks and it was back to May this year, so it is a big chance you will get it before x'mas I think.

Yeah, tried that but all that was available off stock was blue sailcloth interior and standard air con . Wanted the Red interior and climate control as the missus just wont leave the temperature alone for five bloody minutes. Now she can suit herself. My pickyness has cost me extra dosh but I know I would have been driving around thinking ' I wish I'd got the climate control, and in red' for the next couple of years instead of just enjoying the car.

if you insisted, I'm sure they could have ringed a few other dealers looking for the car you wanted.

They rang around all dealers looking for stock , and anyway the available stock is on the system anyway. There was one all the way up in Scotland but someone else beat me to it. He was a bit limited in the fact that I wanted a new car and not a pre reg one. I can wait as my wife is getting my megane when I get my Bravo so it is not like I am without a vehicle.
Anyway, this has drifted off subject.I will post some photos when my new toy arrives, hopefully as an early christmas pressie.
