If you don’t like the sound of the engine I suggest it’s the wrong car for you. The sound of the parallel twin (of any twin) is sweet joy to my ears

If you're noticing it, you could have an exhaust manifold or collector leak. Have a look at your exhaust (cold engine/exhaust) with the engine running, to see whether it's blowing, particularly around the flexi' section (with the braided steel cover over it).
