Hi all,

My 2014 500 105 Twinair exhaust flexi has failed and have been advised to get a new system.

I have been researching for a while but am struggling to come up with the answer! My local garage has quoted me £895 just for parts!

Mine is just the straight pipe to rear silencer, looks very similar to the 1.2 exhausts I have seen but not sure what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I’m not familiar with the TA but is it just the same system as the 1.2? Or are there different systems? 895 is a lot just to replace an exhaust system!! I changed mine myself on my 1.2 and fitted a stainless steel pipe n box it’s not a hard job .. the hardest part is getting the old one off!!

Definitely easy enough to do, I'm just pulling my hair out trying to find the correct part unfortunately. It does look identical to the 1.2 exhaust I have seen, but really not sure. Was hoping someone here may have done the job and knew what to buy!

As others are saying, that's bespoke stainless exhaust money!

But the advice to replace the entire system is as sound as your exhaust probably isn't; after 10 years on the car, replacing just a section of it makes no sense at all, unless you're just looking for a quick fix to sell the car in a week or two.

I'd be looking for somewhere that can do a custom stainless fit, even if it means having to make a longer journey.

In all fairness, when they said system it is literally from the flexi pipe back, the backbox is fine and so is the part where the flexi connects to the engine. I just can't fathom how it can be £895!

Sounds like Fiat. See ewBay! More like £90. Also call online automotive I find they are helpful and sensibly priced

Thanks for the advice guys. I managed to get a part off eBay for £100 after getting the car over the pit at work and looking at it with fitters, what National told me was wrong anyway.

They quoted an entire mid section and back box claiming it was dented, though no damage on it at all. It’s literally just the flexi pipe that’s gone at the front.

I spoke with them again and they claimed they can only get the part from specialist suppliers, and it isn’t an original OEM part, just pattern. Absolute rip off.

Well done. These rip off merchants make my toes curl!

Kwik fit or similar will give you a more sensible price.

Better still, do it yourself.

Finding the right exhaust might not be quick, but you'll get there.

National and Kwikfit..
are like Lidl and Aldi 😉

Tempt you in the door, then run up a long list of "work"..
Been there, done that 🙄

Would just replacing the flexi section be an option for you?
I cut mine out with an angle grinder and bolted a new flexi in place on my 169 1.2 when the old flexi got bashed in

Definitely! Turns out the one I ordered off of eBay on their records only fits the 85bhp model. Just need to find out the diameter of the pipe.

If you don't have a vernier you can wrap a strip of paper round the exhaust and mark a line, then measure that distance to get the circumference.
Measure both sides of the flexi, my 1.2 has different diameter pipes going in and out.

The diameter of the pipe on our TA is 45mm.
I bought a flexi section off Ebay and my local garage fitted it with some clamps which are 48.5mm and are for VW, but nice and compact.
The rest of the exhaust is good and the flexi failed as the engine mounts were past their best. Garage fitted new ones that I supplied at the same time.
