RESOLVED - it was the EVAP valve

Car ran faultless with the EVAP hose connection blanked with insulation tape. As soon as I removed the tape it was clear to hear it drawing air.
Changed EVAP fault cleared.

I can now understand that the original EVAP must have been changed at some point, however it was incorrectly fitted, not all the way home, therefore leaking around the o-ring area, and whilst the clip was there to hold it, it wasn’t correctly clipped in.
The replacement EVAP I had ordered mounted correctly, however it was passing air (ordered from AUTODOC )
Put the old valve back in and mounted correctly and it not drawing air, so all good. Reconnected hose. And she runs faultless once more 😄

Hope this helps someone else
Thanks for the responses to my query too
Great read! This thread has given me some stuff to think about as I'm having the same codes so thank you! Just wondering which EVAP you Brough off Autodoc? I was looking at P/N 71718105 and either the "MEAT & DORIA Fuel Tank Breather Valve" or "MAGNETI MARELLI Fuel Tank Breather Valve".

Can’t recall the part I bought from AUTODOC, it didn’t pass if you blew or sucked on it, but the vacuum in the manifold was clearly stronger than I could muster as it clearly passed air when installed.
I re installed the old, and it passed no air, when installed correctly.
As I became familiar with the all the pieces I was able to be aware that someone had been in before and not fully seated the original part. When I reseated and installed the clip correctly the issue was resolved.
Would have been resolved a whole lot quicker had the AUTODOC part worked as it should
Good luck 👍

Thanks for the response mate :) good to know

Evap cannister seems to go with the purge valve. Fiats diagnostic sorts out what is what, The air leak script is pretty meaningless, If cleaning the MAF also do the throttle body, but this sounds like the cannister purge valave and solenoid. Be careful not to overfill the tank when fuelling up it is a costly thing to sort. I had two failures in 11 months.. Fortunately done by Fiat on warranty and then on parts warranty because they supplied and fitted Fiat parts. Maybe the manifold leak is relevant but why it cant point straight to the problem I dont know, Your post is another vauable bit of insight.

I’ve got my solenoid valve on it’s way from AUTODOC. I had a little play around last week in prep for the job this weekend, one thing I couldn’t figure out was how the remove the blue pipe clip form the valve? Could you shed any light on this as you’ve done the job?

Had the same issue with codes
P010162 and C122186

Changed
MAF sensor no change
Purge valve no change
Removed manifold and it looked deformed at the bottom end so most likely not sitting flush onto the engine. Changed manifold and sorted the issue.
