Come the drier weather (2017 lol), I'd like to remove my EGR and give it a clean up.
Could someone kindly post a photo as to where the bugger is on the engine and how easy/difficult it is to remove?
Many thanks guys.

I would leave it be. If going to all the trouble to remove it I wouldn't bother unless you're going to blank it off.
FYI it is on top of the exhaust manifold rear left of engine cover as you look at it.

EGR is mapped out anyway (allegedly) by Quantum and as SWMBO keeps telling me, "if it ain't broke ........" yadah, yadah, yadah, whatever bitch.

But on this occasion, I think she's right.

Thanks anyway Techno and I'll keep the pics for when she's not looking lol.

Don't visit buycarparts.co.uk unless you're OK with them using that irritating, infantile kiddie-script that disables your "back" button.

Unbelievably retarded to try to use kidnapping as a sales tool. Total winkers (n)

Call me a miserable old git but I'll be poked if I ever buy a damn thing from nasty little oikwits like them.

Happy new year to everyone else but buycarparts should eat pus and die.

Any chance you mods could pause the profanity filter so I can say what I really think?

I suggest it's your PC I don't encounter that problem on my mac.
I would change your settings so that clicking a link opens a new page/window

EDIT I have tried every scenario this morning and no back button issues whatsoever.

Other users have reliably informed me that blanking it off isn't strictly necessary, as long as the valve is closed. The Tafmet device is all that is needed without the blank plate.

No it prevents the vacuum operation of the EGR
As long as you are sure the EGR is closed you don't need the blank plate.
The seller supplies the blank plate because most customers have faulty EGR's being partly stuck open due to gunk
When I fitted mine I didn't have that information so I fitted the plate, had I known I'd have not bothered as it is a very hard job on left hand drive vans at least.

If it has been mapped out by Qantum, why bother. It won't be operating. I've finally found someone in Brisbane to map out my late model 3.0L Fiat motor. Getting it done next Monday.

hi all just waiting for mine coming the problem is HOW do you know its closed without taking it off & by the time you have done that you mite as well fit the plate I tried to take just the top of the egr valve but wouldn't move so it looks like a plate fixing job looking with my mirror on stick even with right hand drive & techno photos (thanks ) it still look a shyt to do got plenty of plasters & coins for the swear box & hope them 2 bar stewards nuts on the manifold come undone without drilling the shytsters

the 2 bolts in the manifold were tight allen bolts I think

forgot to say if you get them out fit the plate with no gasket as if you do you cant get the top part back on

Sure you can. Its just a bit tight

I could not get it back with the 2 gaskets on
