Technical Ducato 2.3 egr removal??

Hi
I need to sort out my egr as the engine light is on and code P0403.
does anyone have a solution, i was thinking of a very high cliff as my old bus has now done 308,000 miles, but I cant part with it as I have had it from new and want to take it as far as I can.

whilst not legal or ethical 2011 and earlier 2.3 ducatos (orange seats) will run quite happily without the egr connected or even fitted mine accidentally wasn't refitted when i swapped engines out i blanked off the intake and exhaust manifolds (the plates are the same) had a custom fitting made up for the back of the block to accept the heater hose, removed the vacuum line from the controller and blanked it off ,I left the controller connected so the ecu still sees it in the system still gets commanded to open (ive seen it as high as 85%) the system has enough variables to let the engine run without causing codes to be generated as well, over the last 80000kms all ive found is a lower under bonnet temperature and much lower soot levels in the oil (Caterpillar oil analysis not visual) two big pluses in my view Cheers Adam
