Hi,

Anyone put a dog in the back of a panda and got any advice to share?

I'm getting a Jack Russell - so only small but given the likelihood that it will eat the car given a chance I'm assuming a dog box would be sensible choice (just for the occasional short local trips in the panda which means I can afford to lose most of boot space). With this in mind I've looked at the likes of Lintran who make a box with a solid plastic floor & sides with a grill door and top (rather than the fold up typre of cages that look more like a hamster cage).

These look like safest way to avoid mess in the car ( sick or worse) and will also hopefully rattle less than the full cage type.

Only problem seems to be that the smallest I have seen is a bordeline fit in the boot depth wise. The manufacturer hasn't tried one and suggests I make a visit ..but they are in Grimsby which is a touch too far for me.

So ..has anyone used one of these boxes that does fit ..or alternatively got an other suggestions / advice etc for taking a dog in a panda.

Thanks..

I don't have a dog but my friend does, one of those full size ex-racing greyhounds, with a long waggly tail. We took it out a while ago, it was quite good at folding itself up but I had to put down one of rear folding seats so it would all fit in. It really wasn't very comfy for the dog.

Whatver woofer you get there semes to be recommendation for guard bars between Fido's compartment and the front passenger to prevent the dog killing you if you come to an abrupt stop. Is there anything that fits from the top of the rear seats to the roof, for instance?

The current UK Panda accessories brochure shows the dog guard with 2 happy looking Basset Hounds - albeit not fully grown in the back of the car.

Mind you the hatch door is open - so maybe it couldn't be shut with 2 dogs in the back - your Jack Russell should have ample room.

I've seen the dog guard that "fmouse" mentions .....but also read on here, I think ,that it requires drilling car to fit it which I wasn't keen on. Additionally as I want the dog in a lockable box I think that would be as safe if not better than just a dog loose in the back ( where I agree some bars /netting are what's needed )....

So was after some experience of a cage / dog transit box in the back ...guessing that as the boot is narrow no one will have one ?
