Grande Punto DlightSwitch's Blue T-Jet.

Introduction

Hi all,

After reading these forums for a while and posting the odd silly question here and there, I'm proud to say I finally own a T-Jet :D:D

Standard for now but I do have plans for it:

Looks

  • Tinted tail lights
  • Tinted/Abarth headlights
  • Black Mirrors
  • Black Alloys
Handling

  • Coilovers (Either JOM or FK AK)

Performance

  • Forge Induction
  • Forge Intercooler
  • Abarth Turbo
  • Some sort of custom exhaust

I'm open to suggestions though, if any of you have any ideas on what else/different to do to my car then feel free to let me know :)

Thanks for looking!
any more updates on this thread? just read from start to finish. your car looks immense! as well as the white punto in some pics with the Porsche wheels... looked effing awsome!

quick question though out of curiosity, i have the 130 m-jet, can the abarth turbo be fitted onto a diesel? or are turbos fuel specific?

Hey all, Sorry for not updating in a while, I have a lot going on, however nothing is really finished yet so I haven't been updating. Gonna throw a few bits together now though :)

One of the things I was doing over the summer as I mentioned a few pages back was building a carpeted false floor for the boot, which is now done:

Still waiting on getting my sub and amp fitted though, currently having problems getting my new headunit in and wired up. If anyone wants to come help me with it I'd be more than grateful! I'll reward you with a ride in the T-Jet and some beer tokens! ;)

Next up, I was sick of having to listen to the subframe bracer bar rattle against my exhaust after bending it back numerous times, so I bit the bullet and bought some Forge Subframe braces. The big one replaced the bent one and the smaller one is just to stiffen up the chassis a bit more.

I can actually feel a difference in the handling now as well, it's minor though, not sure if the braces are worth it for everyday normal driving, but I'll be happy as long as they don't bend like the stock one did!

WelshSporting, at that time, the boost gauge was just attached to a mounting bracket that came with it, and double-sided-taped to the speedo surround. The boost gauge cup is now smoothed in to the speedo surround with fibreglass and body filler (my first time working with both!). It's not perfect yet, but I'm still in the process of smoothing it out to make it look a bit nicer.

The boost gauge itself isn't too hard to wire in, it came with instructions, and you just have to find a power source (cig lighter) and know where to attach the T-Piece in the engine bay.

Here's a nice picture of the car that I took early one morning :) (At home it's always garaged but on this day I was staying at a mates house down south)

Finally, the latest update. After a great deal of messing about and being indecisive, I got some Abarth Headlights, and I have to say I really do prefer them now. They were actually easier to fit than I thought, which was handy, because in total I had to fit them twice, because the first time I fitted them the connector plugs had moved out of place and I couldn't re-align it with the lights on the car :bang:.

Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of them yet with the weather being bad and all, but here is one I took recently while I was doing some other work to the car. (Can you guess what? ;))

Anyway that's it for now, I'll hopefully have a big update coming in the new year once I get it back on the rolling road with the new engine mods. :D

excellent David! looks awsome with the abarth lights (y)

oh and i guess your finally fitting the decat pipe, was it hard to fit the forge heater/water hoses?

You're correct! :p

The Boost/Coolant hoses weren't 'hard' to fit, just a pain. Removing the old clips was annoying, some are properly awkward to get off. Some of the new hoses are a tight fit as well. It would probably be helpful to soak the coolant hoses in a dish of hot water first to make them more flexible and easy to get on.

this is 1 of my fav cars on this forum every update is the rite way to go to make the car better.

you obv think your plans through well, subbed

Thanks Butcher that really means a lot. Let's see if I can bump it up to your number 1 favourite with everything else I've got planned ;)

The original sporting alloys you mean? I have Toyo Proxes T1-R now and love them, but I've also heard good things about Pirelli P Zero Neros (Although a lot more expensive). A friend of mine had Kumho Ecstas and I found they had awful grip.

This thing really has taken shape now dlight, looks spot on with the new headlights :D just get some coilies and a cheeky shaft extension and its finished :p

Wouldn't wanna be the first to do it, you lot get sorted out first and rate it for me :p
Don't think I want to go lower on the front anyway, I do have to go up a driveway and into my garage. However the rear could do with sitting a bit closer to the road.

the rear of mine sits a tad high aswell, mainly because its stripped out :slayer:, would love coilovers but the way i drive the shafts wouldnt last a week

Amazing car mate, great progress thread :D! Abarth lights look much better I must admit, im hoping for the same sort of power when I put my turbo on :)!

Minor update.

I just machine polished and waxed the car this wheel so I thought I'd take some new pictures:

Today I finally put in my custom speedo surround with the gauge implemented, I tried to take some pics but they weren't coming up well in my dark garage, I'll get some daylight pictures soon!
