So do you know where the connectors are for the pillar ones? Keeping in mind that the seats are electric and heated so there is a TON of wiring under there.... Three starts have happened already...

see post #89... if you dont have curtains i think the crash sensors are at the bottom of the B-Pillars! if your seats have airbags check the wiring underneath them... dont think it wil be an OCS issue as its a 53-plate

Panic over, he found the connectors under the back seat, sprayed contact cleaner on the first one and hey presto, problem solved.:D Thanks for your help :)

It all depends on what fault you have it could be many things.....

drivers air bag clock spring,
wiring under seats,
OCS sensor,
air bag control unit fault
bad earth
problem with a crash sensor...

to name but a few

you need to have a diagnostic carried out to narrow it down......

Just gave this a try and no luck :(

Cleaned all the connectors 2 in the boot 2 under seats (drivers/&/passengers)
& 1 in the glove box

None of them are clearing the airbag fault

HELP !!! lol

i can see all of your positive comments about fixing this problem but not how to do it. can you please re post the solution to airbag warnings? thanks guys

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread but now I again have the dreaded air bag failure :bang:

The first time it occurred... an year ago I was able to cure it with some contact cleaner. I sprayed the connector under the driver's seat and it was gone.

Now unfortunately it is back again :( This time the new abarth dash says: 'Airbag system failure' and it is displaying that all the time in full brightness which is very annoying in the night. I cannot scroll the menus just this stupid message saying to stop engine now :(

So what I did so far is getting a VAG Com/KKL cable with switches to swap pins and was able to access the Airbag module by using FES.

At first it displayed a ton of error messages then I cleared them and just a single one persisted. I got some contact cleaner and cleaned all the connectors under the passenger seat but that didn't help. Screenshots are below:

Try cleaning the yellow passenger airbag connector. Access through a panel in the top of the glovebox.
That's next on my list. I'll do that tomorrow or in the weekend and report back. How do you access that connector? Can I find the schematics in ePER or eLearn? eLearn is not very intuitive to work with...

EDIT: Found it -

You don't need to remove the airbag and glovebox.

Open the passenger's glovebox and there's a removable plastic panel in the top of it to access the yellow connector. I think the panel may be held in by one screw.

EDIT: There's a picture of it in this thread: https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/169996-passenger-airbag-squib.html

So, problem solved! Sadly I am not sure which one cured it. Today I cleaned the yellow connector in the glovebox and the error was still present. Then I cleaned it again together with both connectors under the front seats and then I played a bit with the thing that disables the passenger airbag and it is now gone. I am attaching a picture of the yellow connector in the glovebox, perhaps it would be useful for someone one day:

I'm putting this here rather than starting ANOTHER airbag thread

First thing is first... ive always wondered, what does all this mean in MES
2F-2P-2L-2T-I-S-C
i know its the 'build' of the airbag system but what does each letter correspond to?

NEXT

does anyone have an ACCURATE list of fault codes for the Siemens unit?
i understand its Hex Code but im a little confused about MES description of the faults.

MES is reporting
1) 0A 'Middle Passenger Airbag Squib 2nd Stage' B Pillar maybe...?
2) 09 'Passenger Squib Circuit' passenger squib... which one?? by my reckoning i have 3, 1 in the dash for the main airbag 1 in the seat for the seat airbag and one in the pretensioner for the seatbelt...
3) 22 'Curtain Airbag Squib (Passenger)' is this the front curtain airbag or rear curtain airbag? does the stilo have a front and rear curtain bag?

all 3 are 'Value Too High' with 'Intermittent/Present'

can anyone help? need these sorted by Feb as MOT is looming
